moonrise kingdom was really good. some genuinely funny moments. very typical wes anderson, though, so if you don't dig him, don't go. if you do, do. lotta hank williams on the soundtrack. bill murray's belly. edward norton was awesome in it. seven thumbs up out of 93% fresh.

I liked it, but did'nt you get antsy in the last half-hour? I felt like I just smoked a gram of rock.

strangelight

no. did you smoke crack during the movie?

retardgroove

Come on, everyone knows there is no smoking in movie theaters.

crack isn't very smoky. I used to know a guy that smoked crack in the  bathroom at red lobster while he was at work everyday.

Watched "Resurrect Dead: The Mystery Of The Toynbee Tiles" recently, which inspired the quotation used in my signature.  It's a great documentary and a strange story.

human centipede 2.  i don't wanna talk about it.  kinda reminded me of eraserhead a little bit.  in that it was completely bizarre.  black and white.  there were just the main characters in the movie too.  like, no extras.  it felt like the whole story was taking place in a vacuum.  i can't remember how to spell vaccum.  vaccuum?  none of those looks right.  the only people on the screen were people pertinent to the plot.  no cops.  or random bystanders or neighbors or anything.  ii don't wanna talk about it though.  pretty out of control.  much better than the first one which i thought blew.

The Shocker

Yep, light years "better" than the first one.

Sorry, GS. Been a little busy lately, but I'll try to add something about each movie if I get time at work today.

No worries, Frog. I just thought I'd yank your chain a bit.  ;)

GS does enjoy yanking dude's chains.

The Dark Knight Rises - Great movie, great action & a great soundtrack.  Some holes in the movie, but overall spectacular.

GodShifter

Ignoring Shecky Greene up there, I, too, saw 'The Dark Knight Rises' not once, but twice in two days just for the hell of it.

I liked the movie pretty well the first time, so with nothing better to do the next day, I decided to watch it again so I could catch some plot details and dialogue I missed the first time. The 2nd time helped, but wasn't really worth the time for the small amount of insight I gained from re-watching it.

Overall, I liked the movie and thought it was a good final act for what has been a pretty solid series of movies. In keeping with the other two, Nolan keeps the dark theme going and that's pretty rare for a comic book based film. But, ultimately, Batman is a dark, troubled figure in the comics, so it stays true to his character. So, respect for keeping the theme and feel throughout.

I enjoyed the fight scenes between Bane and Batman the best of the whole movie to be honest. The rest, while interesting, did not always keep me totally involved.

*Spoilers*

The whole entire police force trapped under the city premise was weak at best. The stockbrokers on motorcycles wasn't a good idea, but I can see where some people would love that angle. It felt trite to me.

There were, in fact, quite a few plot logic problems with the movie if you really examine it, but, hey, it's a comic book movie. It doesn't have to (nor will it) make total sense.

The movie was entertaining. I'll say that.

i thought tom hardy was great as bane (hard to convey that much emotion with most of your face covered), so i decided to check out an earlier film of his, bronson. don't know if it's been reviewed in here yet.

this was fucking amazing. one of the best films i've ever seen. it's a fictionalized biopic of charlie bronson, england's most famous prisoner. he isn't famous, or infamous, for his crimes, but for being the most violent inmate in history. it's like a horror film crossed with a dark comedy. hardy is brilliant. completely electric performance, i don't know how else to say it without sounding dumb. it was just incredible. it was really nightmarish stuff, but it's all shot so beautifully, every frame looks like a work of art. this film is dark and sick and nihilistic and perfect.

some movie poster called it a clockwork orange for the 21st century, and that might not be far off, really. it's on netflix if anyone wants to watch it.

mortlock

i liked him as bane..i thought he put on a great performance. this movie looks interesting. i hope it lives up to your hype..

bronson is a really good movie.  weird as hell.  the guy never even killed anyone but he's england's most notorious inmate.  complete fucking wack job.

strangelight

i don't want to give too much away in an attempt to convince people to see this, but it was fucking awesome. when they move him from prisons to mental wards, that's when shit gets really fucked up.

i thought hardy was really good as bane. i think he's fucking astounding as bronson.

boltthrow

Hardy was great in Bronson.  Movie itself was okay but Hardy was, like the ad says, electrifying.
