Lame. They never built up the characters enough for me to care. They wanted it to be deep and moving. All I wanted was it to be over.

I was gonna avoid this based on rg's review, but my buddy really wanted to see it.  great performances all around, especially by Woody.  I thought the characters were built up as much as they needed to be

Cool glad you dug it, but I never bought what they were selling.. well until I bought the ticket they sold me.

Instant Dan

Not bad. Eastbound and Down is still the pinnacle of his career so far.

Watched Elysium the other night.  It was entertaining but I just don't like Mert Dermon.

Mert Damon? Is that the bastard child of Mertz and Matt Damon?

After Team America that's the only way I can pronounce his name

Elysium was not very good at all, very disappointing.
Some days chickens, some days feathers

JemDooM

Think I'm watching that tonight, it's a good job I'm easily pleased so will probably like it ;)

I watched Sightseers last night which was really entertaining and funny in a tense, uncomfortable way, I'd highly recommend it...
DooM!

It was great. Total drug movie with lots of laughs. Tons of tit & ass, sleazy wall street scumbags. The three hours went by quick. It did have a pretty cliche Martin Scorsese ending/wrap-up, but thats his deal.

deleted account

The Yakuza.  highly disappointed.  I was led to believe it was post-noir and a highly original screenplay.  nope.  the fighting sequences weren't even that good.  then Mitchum goes all the way back to homeboy's house to cut off his pinky and give it to him, and he does it while the dude is in the other room getting tea?  come on

It was enjoyable but a little too much of a Goodfellas retread to me with the voiceovers and freezeframes and coke snorts becoming zoom-ins, etc.  I actually thought it could've used more laughs.  But the scene of Leo vs. the FBI agent on the boat was great as was the "drugs finally hit him at the country club" scene.

I went into it with zero knowledge of the back story. I thought I was gonna sit thru three hours of serious drama for some reason? I guess I didn't really pay attention to the trailers. I ended up pleasantly surprised.

boltthrow

Yeah I liked it and i guess what's Scorsese gonna do?  he has to make the films that interest him.

I just got back from Anchorman 2 which was lesser than the original but my expectations had already been lowered so I thought it was actually funny.

This was a very interesting documentary. It dealt with honeybee colonies in California, Switzerland, China and Australia, and how the honeybee population is slowly declining. Great cinematography in this film, and the close-ups of the bees was cool but it also gave me nightmares.
If I had a dollar for every girl that found me unattractive they would eventually find me attractive.

Maybe nightmares was a bad word to use, but it was a little freaky seeing the bees do their thing up close and personal.

Didn't break any new ground but had great energy.  My favorite comedy moment was the slapstick Quaaludes debacle.  I had a grand time, even at 3 hours.

American Hustle, that was kinda boring.  Not as good as the reviews would suggest.

Out Of The Furnace 8/10

Would have been scored higher if Whitaker's forced gruff voice hadn't been. Great movie nonetheless.

9/10

I enjoyed it I guess it's a lot more toned down than the book but I wouldn't know.

Unfortunately no nudity, and it wasn't much of a comedy. However, it wasn't completely terrible.

I really enjoyed this movie. Lots of laughs throughtout the entire film. It's about a group of friends who get together 20 years after attempting and failing as teenagers an epic pub crawl where they have to drink a pint from 12 different bars in one night. However, in their recent attempt at completing "The World's End" they realize that the people of their childhood town are no longer the people they used to be, and they are forced to save not only themselves but all of mankind. Definitely worth the rent.
