Title: Such hawks, Such Hounds...
Post by: MR. CREEPER on December 18, 2010, 12:55:35 PM
Great stuff here. I'm wondering if there is anymore such Doc's regarding some of the bands involved, or about some of the popular Favs I should check out, ie-Sabbath, Mountain, Hawkwind, Blue Cheer, Thin Lizzy, etc. I appreciate the suggestions.

There is a good BBC documentary about Hawkwind, in multiple parts - you can find it on YouTube (or was that Google Video)

Such hawks, Such Hounds is a good movie but I thought it could have been better. They skip over some bands completely and some of the music clips go on too long. The segment on desert rock is good but why did Fatso Jetson get some much coverage? They talk about Stoner Rock but there is no Fu Manchu, just minor complaints really but it could have been more complete.

I bought this DVD a few months and I still haven't watched it. I need to make some time for it.

Make some time to watch it, man.  Such Hawks is a great DVD. I've watched it over and over a few times.  I agree that it could have been better.  It could have been longer and it could have covered some bands that weren't included, or covered some things longer.  While it is not perfect, it is damn near close. Good music and good video.

Also makes you realize that many of the musicians we all love here on this website still have "real" jobs to keep themselves going. They are not living on the money made from the music. Really too bad.
