Hey, what was the one with the fucked up family? Where the mom lactated for like 5 mins at the end? That one was STRANGE, even for Miike.
great great movie. I'm glad Miike is doing more 'normal' movies. he kinda lost me on the last few. that lactating scene especially (Gozu).

Epicand classic, old style Cinema. Miike said in the DVD special features that he hoped people would watch it several times, to gather more of the depth. I'll take his word for it and watch it again. It's definitely up there with Kurosawa, for sure, IMO. It's at once subtle and brutal. I hope to see it in a theater someday - it looks like a cinematic masterpiece to me. I also found it interesting when Miike, in the DVD special features, talked about the sounds of the movie and how it might impact the viewers experience.
