Has anyone had to deal with Anti-Vaxxers in your band?

I've been reading some things from other people in bands about what they've been going through. And with several more venues requiring the artists to be vaccinated in order to play there, it's inevitable that it's going to cause friction.  So if this is something that you're dealing with, how are you approaching it?

Nah, my whole band didn't play together from March of 2020 until like July of 2021 after we were all fully vaccinated. We're not actively pursuing shows until shit calms down a bit more, feels good to be on the same page as my best friends.

Thankfully have not.

Worst that has happened is a fully vaxxed/masked band still wanted/wants to play shows when I don't feel safe doing so.

They're training a sub currently to fill in for me, and it's cool.

I'm still mostly social distancing because you can get covid even if everyone is vaxxed.  I think the data is not yet in about long term effects from Covid - but right now it does not look good.

My drummers not vaxxed but he has had covid, so theres natural immunity im assuming. As far as playing shows, we are not ready to jump back in yet. Still too soon so its not an issue at this time. Im hoping by next spring, which is the earliest we are willing to play shows possibly depending how shit plays out, things will be different. If vax is required to play venues, hes going to have to get vaxxed or we will get a replacement to sit in. That will be his choice. Stopping the band is not an option.

There have been some studies that show potential super high immunity if you have been infected and get at least 1 shot of one of the double dose vaccines after you recover.

We parted ways with our singer over his attitude towards COVID and other interpersonal issues.

* Booked us a gig and misrepresented it as mask enforced / socially distanced. Turned out to be a really unsafe and irresponsible situation
* Using our time on stage to soapbox about the importance of not wearing masks and "we were meant to look at each other and hold and kiss and love each other" in between every single fucking song
* Refused to get vaccinated and lobbied for everyone else to share his attitude
* Was a cunt about our guitarist's uncle who died of COVID.. literally brought it up as argumentative fodder to support his belief that the pandemic is a hoax
* Put together a release of our music with his face as the album cover and was selling it without telling anybody (??) (unrelated to COVID)

Now we're an instrumental band of vaccinated individuals who aren't planning on playing any gigs in the near future.

Wow what an asshole.

His problems run much deeper than simply disagreeing with the medical community.

And I'm guessing he's already going around online and in person claiming to be the unfairly treated victim too.

Not an anti-vaxxer, that I know of, but I suspect he might have gone that way. Before the pandemic I had been jamming with a drummer at his rehearsal studio in S.SF. close to my office. Fairly early on he tried to see if I wanted to jam. This is a damp, poorly ventilated, cramped facility with lots of things for someone to be skeeved out by long before Covid. He works from home and seemed annoyed at people suggesting that he too needs to be just as careful. This is obviously long before the vaccine. When I'd objected to getting together and expressed my concerns he was pissy about it. When I proposed alternatives like distance recording, or even just playing at my home(I have decent kit and we can get loud) I just got the vibe that he was one of "them" and so I just haven't even tried to get in contact since.
