Title: Noir Alley on TCM
Post by: lftwng4 on January 24, 2020, 08:47:25 AM
TCM is the only cable channel I think is worth paying for.  And one of the reasons is Noir Alley.
If you're not aware, Saturdays at Midnight they always show a film noir, and the host adds some info before and after the movie about the cast and crew.  It's very interesting to me to learn about these old films.
My wife and I love it.  We dvr it, as we're rarely up that late, and due to our schedules, we're about 4 weeks behind.
We just watched "The Mask of Dimitrios" last night, with Peter Lorre and Sidney Greenstreet.  Love both of those guys, and they really play well off of each other.  It was one of the best I've seen for holding my interest, performances, and how the plot unfolded, as well as the ending.
I hate to sound curmudgeonly, but this is a great example of why modern movies don't even compare to the stuff from the 40s and 50s.
Highly recommended.
