I have to say Sabbath, Zeppelin, Van Halen and Metallica are my top choices all around, especially as a personal influence musically. What say you as yours?
Just off the top of my head...
Black Sabbath
The Cream
Deep Purple
Jimi Hendrix
Led Zep
Moby Grape
Mountain
The Ramones
Velvet Underground
First 4? Opeths run of still life, my arms your hearse, blackwater park and deliverance can't be matched but it's not their first 4.
Oh I get what you are asking now.
Opeth
Kyuss
Sepultura
Acid bath.
The latter 3 I listened to nonstop as a teen. Opeth I've listened to the most as an adult. I'd probably even have to throw tool In there too
Uriah Heep
Soundgarden
Jimi Hendrix
Budgie
Iron Maiden
The Faces
Humble Pie
The Allman Brothers Band
Lynyrd Skynyrd
Grand Funk
James Gang
Blue Oyster Cult's first four are very good.
Great choices. My next bunch would def have Skynyrd...shit probably most of these choices. See, like minded pains in the ass do think alike.
Ramones

Yeah I know. That still didn't prevent me from listening to them. Pagan terrorist tactics kicked me in the face. The first album to kick my ass.
Charlie Daniels/CDB
Fu Manchu
Monster Magnet
Kiss
Mothers of Invention
SLAYER
Van Halen.
ZZ Top
Nice call on the ZZ Top. totally slipped my brain.
Hawkwind!
The "where to start with Hawkwind" thread below just jumped out at me.
FUNKADELIC!
primus
Dr John (first five actually)
The Melvins
X
Motorhead
Opeth
Grand Funk
Aerosmith
Trouble
motörhead
Jimi Hendrix
Led Zep
QOTSA
Nirvana (Bleach was their best imo)
Mark Lanegan
Grinderman
More than 4, but I couldn't just pick 4 out of that list.

Yeah, QOTSA...
The first album was amazing. Most of their other work is too imo (with the exception being Era Vulgaris which is just okay).
Yeah, I've been revisiting the early Aerosmith catalog recently and they've got 5 great ones in a row.
