Title: Supreme Court Ruling for Hyper Violent Video Games
Post by: peoplething on June 28, 2011, 02:09:50 PM
The supreme court ruled that minors can buy and rent ultra violent video games. Games that allow the player to virtually abduct, rape (but not remove her clothes) , torture, and kill women. Or, maybe you want to grab a shovel and decapitate a bunch of school girls, they got a game for that. Or maybe you're feel like strolling down to the <insert extremely populated area here> and bang off 1500 rounds with a mini-gun and wipe out 400 pedestrians in the process. Yeah, they got a few you can do that in.

So, apparently that is art and deemed free speech.

As a bunch of old fogies, what do you think - free speech or something that should probably be regulated.

also, if that level of virtual violence is legal, why is it illegal for a kid to buy a Playboy?

what say you?

Freedom of speech.  I am actually somewhat surprised that the Court ruled that way being extremely old and mostly right-wing.  The truth of the matter is the responsibility is on the parents to check what their kids are playing.  Its not like its difficult the kid is going 2 be playing while you're home anyways and there is plenty of available research to see what is in the games they are playing.
