Marathon was my all time favorite candy bar. England has the Curly Wurly (I think that's what it's called) which is essentially the same.
i miss PB maxx in the worst way.
you can kind of fake it with a chips a hoy and some peanut butter, but it just isn't the same.

Yeah, Curly Wurly is a small Marathon.
Wunderbar is close to a Wonka Super Skrunch....but it has caramel.
this place, Yummies, in Maine has a lot of hard to find candies. Youd be surprised that some you dont see anymore are still available

one of the best breakfast cereals ever invented! they should make it again but then again I've heard Ralston went out of business 10 years ago.
I wish they made Smurfberry Crunch too, that cereal rocked, plus it made your poo turn bright blue.

I had a friend who said back in the 60's they used to make a candybar called Welch's Fudgies. It was like a chocolate cookie bar with grape filling in it and they stopped making it in the early 70's.That always intrigued me. And oh yea I really miss Ninja Turtle pies too.

QuoteMarathon was my all time favorite candy bar. England has the Curly Wurly (I think that's what it's called) which is essentially the same.
As someone else has mentioned, they do still make the Curly Wurly in England, although they're not curly in any way. All these comments about Marathon bars confused me a little though - although the UK now has Snickers bars, back in the 80s they were called Marathon. They changed the name at some point in the early 90s, and now I'm guessing that was to avoid confusion with the American product of the same name? Weird.
I really miss the peanut butter flavoured Kitkat they used to make. It's been replaced with a caramel flavoured one which is a poor substitute.
Ralston Purina - maker of dog food and fine breakfast cereal.
FREAKIES!!
Ralston makes all the store brand knock-offs now.
I've never had a peanut butter KitKat.
Goddamnit.
Vanilla Cookie Crisp.

You probably never will now, sadly. They were advertised as being a limited edition, but they ended up being in the shops for years. I was starting to think they might have become a permanent fixture and then they promplty vanished. Such is life.
Another product I miss is a Sainsburys own brand breakfast cereal called Choccles - chocolate covered cornflakes with chuncks of marshmallow scattered in between. The ideal way to start the day with a massive sugar high.

They still have Code Red... there's a couple different kinds of Mountain Dew, just depends on what shade of food coloring you're in the mood for?

fucking tang. some goofy VEEERY high little party when i was in high school, we decided it would be good to make some tang, couldn't for the life of us find the instructions on the container. called their complaint/help/whatever line (and put it on speakerphone) to find out the correct ratio of powder-to-water, and they couldn't tell us. we had to call back to complain.
can't imagine why we didn't just wing it, we must have been preeeeety young, dumb, and high.

Some of the stuff posted in this thread looks just plain nasty, especially those banana-flavoured Twinkies-things. Blech!
I have been given some very distressing news: is it true that Cinnamon-flavoured TicTacs have been discontinued? We don't have them or any other cinnamon-flavoured candy here in the UK so I have to get folks to either mail them to me or bring them back. If they're not available any longer what can I ask for as a substitute? I NEED cinnamon candy.
And yes, Peanut Butter KitKats are real. And delicious. Or they were. I seem to remember mailing a bunch of them to one of the sr.com gals over on the west coast.
Here you go, Ms. L.

Do y'all have Altoids over there? There are cinnamon ones here.
Here too;
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_0_12?url=search-alias%3Dgrocery&field-keywords=cinnamon+altoids&sprefix=cinnamon+alt%2Cgrocery%2C366 (http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_0_12?url=search-alias%3Dgrocery&field-keywords=cinnamon+altoids&sprefix=cinnamon+alt%2Cgrocery%2C366)
Hey, thanks for looking those up for me, black. I suspect the shipping costs from the US to here would be more than the candy costs. And no, Altoids are not manufactured here, they are only available in specialty stores imported and cost a fortune.
A friend bought me a couple of rolls of Certs recently and I'm rationing myself until I get more supplies from my sister who has just come back from Canada with a whole load of the good stuff for me. Not TicTacs because she couldn't find them but other undisclosed brand/s. I think I'd rather like those Liquorice Altoids: if I'd seen them when in the US I know I'd have brought some back with me.
It's strange but cinnamon-flavoured candy is unknown here but I know quite a few Brits who like it. I think I need to set up an importing business and make myself a million.
This obviously passed me by, but the good people of Britain seem to have made the right choice anyway... The peanut butter Kitkat is coming back!

Cheer wine is bottled in north carolina. You can find it everywhere there. Just watch out if you are gay. They don't like the gays there
Gays are basically illegal here.
Wow. I had completely forgotten about Like. I probably drank more Surge, but not to the extent I did Mello Yello years earlier, which is not as good as I remembered it being (with or without vodka). The nostalgia-fueled 12-pack purchase of 2011 has yet to be finished.
My most distinct memory of Hawaiian Punch in a can (aside from the brutal sweetness) is how they stuck with steel well after most other 12oz drinks came in aluminum. On top of its lack of carbonation, this did not work in its favor.

Yikes! That's not good. They always said that the Twinkie™ would survive a nuclear war (proved untrue on "Myth Busters" or somewhere else), but apparently it won't survive the 21st century even.
Actually, I'd bet the Twinkie™, Ding Dongs™, and the cupcakes might get picked up by another company, but most of the other stuff will go into the realm of "Discontinued Foods" netherworld. That's a shame for Hostess workers, though.
I just bought some Ding Dongs™ a few days back and they were quite terrible. I didn't remember them being that bad. They were favorites of mine as a kid (remember when they were wrapped individually in tin foil?) Now, they're in plastic bags and the chocolate tastes like wax; they're smaller than I remembered, too. Sign o' the times. :(
