Title: Footswitchable Power Amps
Post by: AgentofOblivion on March 07, 2014, 11:32:51 AM
I was messing around with the Laney TT100 last night that I got in a package deal.  It's three channels, all of which have separate volume/reverb, then two master volumes and a master reverb.  The master volumes are footswitchable so you effectively have a volume boost/cut that works no matter which channel you're on.  Having separate reverb and switchable master reverb is pretty awesome too.

Anyway, I'm thinking of building a new rig that is tube preamp into mod effects (mainly Eventide Space) into a super clean, solidstate power amp.  Having a volume boost would be perfect for solos but I can't seem to find footswitchable power amps.  The Bad Cat Unleash could be made to do what I want I think, but it's like $500 and is made to do more than what I want.  Any ideas?

Stick a switchable volume between pre and power amp.

So basically add in an EQ pedal or something where it's always on and cutting the volume a bit and then to get the boost turn it off?

Something that works at line level rather than instrument level.
