Quicksand was always a feared adversary in movies of the 60's 70's and 80's. I mean it was everywhere; in the forest, out in the middle of nowhere, even in barns and haunted basements. I think it was even in a bed in one o' them Freddie movies. Shit was always bringin' people down, good and bad. We really feared quicksand back then but not so much now.
I just watched "Southern Comfort" (1981) with Powers Booth and Keith Carradine and poor ol' Stuckey bought the farm by way of quicksand. Totally caught by surprise while running to the rescue chopper. Damn near made it too. hmm
Great soundtrack in that movie by Ry Cooder.
Too bad about the movie though. I saw that in the theater.
I know. Pretty bad but yes good soundtrack. Every scene was "goddammit men pull yourselves together! We gotta find the road!"
There are spiky logs around every corner :(
Damn coon ass.
I remember reading an article that quicksand is a myth.
Right. Like a lot of what fictional movies are made of so it fits right in.
