I just picked up a Peavey 1510-T FEST for a little over $100! 2x15, 2x10, and 3 tweeters! ABSOLUTELY GROSS! I plan to run my Coli 300 through it. Also have a Peavey T-40 (natural ash) with original case on its way as well. I can't believe i now own this much Peavey gear. I used to be a firm believer in "friends don't let friends buy Peavey" but i gotta tell ya my buddy's VTM60 really changed my thoughts on that brand. I have owned tons of Peavey gear (and Crate) over the years and always considered it throwaway gear but it was ALWAYS built to last .And it did. After the nukes hit, it will be cockroaches and Peavey gear that survive! ha! Anyway i am very excited about these purchases and hopefully when i receive the gear it is in good shape and sounds killer.
Anybody using Peavey gear care to chime in? Lovers? Haters?
the peavey t-40 is one SERIOUS piece of gear!
nonoman rocks my old Butcher. I rock a T-60, sold a T-40 (regret it to death,) I've also bought/sold/traded/owned/still have a VTM60, VTM120, Butchers, Rockmaster, shitloads of solid-state bass heads, 4x12s, 4x10s, 2x15s... I fuckin' love peavey.
I've got a Peavey 1516 as my main cab. 1x15 and 2x8. Built like a brick and sounds great.
<---jealous.
I knew I'd turn your ass to the dark side Hays! Seriously, if I can get my hands on a USA Peavey, I'll take it over anything. ANYTHING.
If you decide you hate that t-40 you call me. Uh... Bmail me, anyway.
Way back in the olden times I had a TNT-80 for some reason.
Peavey is the new Sunn
I don't know about that, Spooky. Peavey is still relevant. No offense, of course, to any Sunn0))) fans. I had a Sunn Concert Bass head, and it was solid as a rock. I'd still take a Peavey over it though.

I am running a Sunn head with Peavey cab...i am more trendy than everyone! HA ha!
Seriously though, I picked up this Peavey cab for $105! Try getting a Sunn cab for that....
While not all their gear sounds all that good, yes Peavey shit will survive the 2012 Earth Changes. Hell, there is a Peavey logo in the Mayan calendar that predicts so. OK, that is not true.
I used a Peavey Supreme 160 for 10 years as my first amp, and it was reliable as hell and not too shabby sounding for being SS. Used the distortion on it and sounded great. But then I discovered tube amps, bought a Marshall (after trying to buy my bandmate's VTM120, but she wouldn't sell it). Would still love to have one as a backup.
The matching 4x12 cab for the Supreme 160 had to go after my first real studio session with it yielded less than passable results.
i have a peavey VTM 60 that i love. the tolex is all messed up but it still sounds awesome. i bought it in the parking lot of a circle k. best $150 i've ever spent.

With pride and wild abandon!
I dig my T-40... It's not my gig bass, but it's a home practice bass for sure. I also have an old Earth Super Bass, which is basically a Peavey Musician from the same era. Good stuff for sure.
No offense to Peavey or Sunn I play and cherish both. I just see the tipping point now were old Peavey gear is going to be bought up and horded until the price goes through the roof like Sunn.
Then I'm glad I bought up and hoarded before that happened..lol.
Peavey has probably manufactured more stuff than Sunn did (just a guess though). Peavey prices are not going up, as far as I can tell (there may be some rare exceptions, but generally not).
I have seen those Peavey T-40's going up at least 50 or 100 dollars on ebay.
That's what happens when people are honest about shit. We need some disinformation in the mix. Here goes...
"Peavey is run by child molestors. Buy Crate."

Those things are awesome. I got one in mint condition from my buddy. It is really fat and thick sounding but with bight, kind of like a less paul jr.

I don't but this is an excuse for me to take pics of my rig anyways I'll go borrow my sisters camera and take some tomorrow (Wed) morning. I have a pretty cool bass 2.
anybody have any experience with the Peavey Mark III? my bassist picked that up along with a 1x15 cab i think awhile back. honestly it doesn't sound that great
the mark III is a weird beast. that is the amp with the 2 independent channels and the graphic eq, right? our bass player had one for YEARS. he never seemed to get the "blanket" off the speakers, you know? he ended up buying a sansamp bass pedal and just running it into the power amp . . . SOUNDS GREAT NOW!
I've got the Mark III and a 15" black widow cab. They are pretty loud but are very hard to dial in. The graphic eq can really fuck you up. It's best to run it pretty flat then use the Shelving to roll off some treble or bass. Also they seem to sound much better when you use the low gain input. They sound like a fucking monster with a Big Muff and a Bflat tuned guitar!
yeah that's the one. that's funny cause my bassist bought a sansamp pedal as well and dicked around with it for about a week and decided it wasn't worth the 200 bucks he paid at GC. it seems like its always got some trebly sound to it even with the treble knob rolled down all the way and a natural overdrive.
Replaced the logo with the badge from my 73 Valiant after I rolled it.(https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/_rNvo6pedbiY/TZD_3PUZlVI/AAAAAAAABi0/N_ovXtpzTJ8/s640/DSCN7045.JPG)
I got my T-40 yesterday and i must say it is awesome!!! Sounds killer and so much more ballsy than my P bass. Not as heavy as i imagined but having a non-filed edge makes my picking hand placement a bit odd. Just have to readjust to it. My only grip is that the action is a little high for my liking and i think it may be wound the whole way down. A more detailed inspection of that will happen when i change the strings. The case is the original Peavey case made for it and it is in great shape as well
Does anybody know how to date these/ My serials are 00363836 if you need it.
If the action on the bridge is all the way down, and the truss is right, you may just have to shim the neck, it's pretty common. Some people use business cards, I was taught to use bits of beer mat. You take off the strings, then the neck, and put a 1/4" strip of beer mat in the bottom of the neck pocket, and put the neck back on. You should now have plenty action to play with.
Interesting. I have never heard of such a thing!

It may have been serendipitous that the logo just so happened to have spaces that lined up well with the original screw holes. I still have the Peavey logo and could swap it out if I was to part with it.
You may conceivably have to fuss with it a little more.

Never done it myself but what seemed like a good suggestion to me was to cut out a piece of a beer can and use that as a shim. It's thin so you can fine tune it and won't compress like a coaster or card might.

what is beer mat?
I assumed he meant a coaster...
Here is 2 pics of my !510 T cab. 2x15, 2x10, 3 tweeters. sounds great. needs new grill cloth and has a few cosmetic issues. I plan to re load it when i go back to work.

that's awesome. i'd love to have a mix of 10s and a 15 . . .
1820 is a 18 and 2 10's.
Be very careful with the 10's my 1820 ate two sets of Scorpions (10"), before I gave them up as a bad job. Not sure why, the Scorpion 15's seen to hold up fairly well, never really dealt with the 12's.
The 18" BW on the other hand is rock fucking solid ;D

i have an 18" BW cab that has the foamy crap off the back of the magnet fall into the speaker. now i have to scrape it off the piston very carefully or the speaker literally gets stuck on it . . . any advice?
I have yet to pull the speakers on my 1510 T. It sounds great with my Sunn Coli 300 and my T-40 though. I called Peavey and they had told me this cab is one of the first Peavey cabs made and to NOT run more than 100 watts through it, which of course i did! I can tell that one of the 10's has been replaced because it is a lighter color. Not too sure about the rest.
There is 3620 on Ebay in San Diego i think. It has 2 18"s and 2 10"s. It has to be at least 6 feet high! I am 6'5" and my 1510T comes up to just above my teets. Transportation would be a serious factor with that bad boy.

Foamy crap on the back of the magnet? Do you mean something over the vent cover?
I'd remove the basket from the magnet, clean of all the foamy gunk (like a half teaspoons worth?) and re-assemble, if you want to keep particulates out the magnet, put some mesh over the hole.
I'm guessing here though, I have no idea what the foamy crap you are talking about is.
I want the Peavey tvx? 4 12 bass cabinet. Just to load with some weber Cali's and kill My neighbors dog with.
Easier to do with a box of 99c piezo bullet tweeters and a laptop :)
neighbor664's classic is pretty rad. i have a valveking 100 that i f'n love. i'd post a picture but i'm too lazy to figure it out. stone on, bros.
If the Neck of your T-40 says "Patents applied for"(like Mine :D) It is first production run years 78 or 79. After that, Idk. Also, mine Might not have the original neck(All the parts of all of them are interchangeable) But that's doubtful it came with the original case.

yep. that's exactly what i'm talking about.
Hmm, all the one's I've seen have a wire mesh over it, the Scorpions use the cheap foamy crap.
Either way, it's best cleaned off, cleaned out, and replaced with a little mesh.

New bass, rekindling the Peavey love, that's 2 basses, 2 amps, 4 cabs and a mixer.
I'm just about to sell on another Peavey bass head. Mark VI this time. Can't justify keeping it and selling it is paying for that Sound City MK3 I picked up a few weeks ago.
Still want a T40 at some point.
Those heads are pretty sweet. Played out of one on the reg at an old practice space.
Just recently witnessed the bassist for the awesome local band APE! use one to great effect.

I play guitar thru a Peavey TNT 100 (SS bass amp) from the late 70s-early 80s. I ended up getting it for my 16th birthday for $120 from a local pawn shop. I really love the tone that I get from it.
I also plan to get a T-60 (if anyone has any experience and can give me an idea of how it plays/sounds I will love you forever) when I have the funds.

How's the neck? I've seen that a lot of people say that the neck is quite thin (one comment in some thread that I found via Google said that it's thin like an Ibanez) and that worries me a bit. There's some thin necks that I really like (like the one on my Duo Sonic), but if it's as thin/flat as an Ibanez then I might be a bit worried.
Picked up a near mint unloaded 412F to house a quad of Celestion G12K-100 I've been sitting on. It's a perfect cabinet & speaker match for playing baritone, super drop-tuned guitar, or even distorted bass.
For those not familiar, it's basically a stacked pair of ported 2x12s. I've heard that the F in 412F stands for festival. Those ports move some air. PEAVEY POWER!!!

I'm not a fan...sorry. T-whatever basses were fugly then and they are fugly now.
So, here is a peace offering
http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/msg/3296939348.html
Peavy Triumph 60 tube amp, looks like a Peavy version of a Mesa Boogie 112 combo $225- interesting.
http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/msg/3298175499.html
T-40 $350 super clean. fugly.
I agree they're fugly... but in a good way.
I have the 2x12 version of that 412F. Basically looks like a deep 4x12 but only has two speakers and then a port. I also have one of those 6x10 cabs but not in as nice shape as the one in that pic. Same round old school casters on it too. It's not a 6x12 but I think they sound really good.
Also have a black Peavey "Patriot" bass. Looks similar to the T40 but somewhat more 80s. Had that molded plastic case with the foam inside which all turned to chemical goop over the years.
Edit, pic of the 212:
