Post by: Hemisaurus on April 22, 2017, 09:40:45 PM
Anyone suggest any places to play round these parts?

Cheers.

The 806 coffee house in Amarillo has bands. When we went through about 10 years ago we tried to get on a same day bill, and they would've let us play, but the night was already set in stone.  We went there anyways for the afternoon and they were cool people, unfortunately it just didn't work out. Too bad as it's kind of an oasis.

Do they take a while to respond?

Already filled out the booking form on their website, still haven't heard back.

When we did it, it was totally out of the blue e-mail that we were passing through that afternoon.  They responded quickly.  10 years ago, so their whole method may be different now. There was no booking form online to fill out. I think they'd only been open a few months.  When you're an oasis, there's no shortage of people wanting to fill their calendars.

Hmm, nothing else? I've been looking at Roswell, anywhere, Tucumcari down to Las Cruces?

Jake's Backroom in Lubbock is legit

The Deadhorse in San Angelo, but that's not exactly "north"

Too bad The Blue Max in Midland shut down, that was a great place run by great people

Ta, yeah ABQ seems to be the place in NM, we were looking around the east side, trying to get something more in Las Cruces, I suppose we could do ABQ instead and then maybe like Lubbock.

We got Joplin, MO on the way out and Arkansas on the way back, we were hoping to hit a little desert in between. Still waiting to hear from the 806 after using their booking form, FB messaging them, and finally getting an email address, so any other places to hit in Amarillo would be nice.

I guess Joplin to Lubbock to Las Cruces might be do-able instead.

Be careful about I-10 west of Las Cruces and east past El Paso.

Checkpoints.

They're looking for illegal aliens but if you act weird they will search you (and let you go if you cough it up rather than making them look for it).

Thanks Danny, et al. Looks like we might be getting somewhere, we skipping across N. TX and E. NM and jumping from OKC over to ABQ, but it should be cool, not a bad drive.  We've got a show already in Durango, CO the next night, so we're getting the route down.

We might be in. The booker was on vacation and didn't get back to us until now. She said they already have something booked, but they have two areas with stages??? So we play the other one, and split the door. Having never been there, I can't comment. Anyone?
