Title: 70's memphis guitar for hella cheap
Post by: franksnbeans on June 06, 2011, 06:12:36 PM
and it's in good shape.  Has anyone played one of these?  It's a Les Paul copy.  It looks very nice.

Are these any good?

i played one one. it was awful, but i'm sure they were the original pickups/hardware. the action was BEYOND high, so that had something to do with it.

but everything has it's price. what's HELLA cheap?

Set neck or bolty?

I believe it's a solid neck.  I'll get to see it tonight in person.  Should I just hold out for a real les paul?

Of course my experience is with the 80s models so take that with a grain of salt.

Go look at it. If it feels like a piece of shit, it's a piece of shit.

Actually, if it's a set neck, and the frets are good, and everything else is alright.. swoop it, Japanese made les paul knockoffs typically rule.

If you hate it, I'll buy it a little later down the line, at cost + shipping.

It was a bolt neck.  I didn't buy it.

But since i am now in a corpse paint band, I saw this guitar for $200.  It's the Paul Stanley Sovereign Pro.  It came with a coffin case.  It's like brand new.  I bought it.  It's fucking bad-ass I am stoked!

Check out my band too:  http://www.myspace.com/nihlotep

I am replacing the dude in the band named Korism.

Anyone got an idea for a stage name?

... Not all black metal is about nazism, actually, very little of it is. NSBM is a joke, and typically is filled with a bunch of goofballs. You live in the bay/SF, you've had plenty of chances to see amazing black metal bands that have nothing to do with any of that bullshit. Weakling/Ludicra are the most prominent. Don't associate BM with nazism because of Burzum or something like that. Yeah, Varg was a nationalist for a while, but he grew out of it after he realized how STUPID it was.

Shit, I can hardly think of any black metal bands that "push" nazism in any way. Misanthropy, and world destruction? Yeah, I can think of a shitload of them. Self-mutilation and suicide? Yeah, I can think of a shitload of them.

speaking of goofballs, this guy was one of my main influences playing guitar.

People don't take Immortal seriously because of that "Call of the Wintermoon" video and I can't blame them but they are awesome regardless.

Immortal ISN'T serious. They just fucking rule, and his picking hand is made of GOLD. His vocals rule, etc. Fuck that haters, Immortal is SUPREME.

Supergroup.

From what I can tell Abbath has a good sense of humor about his Abbathy-ness but Immortal is deadly serious and they rule.

Also, what do you call a drummer w/ two black eyes?

HORGH!
