Title: Free Stuff Thread!
Post by: clockwork green on December 06, 2011, 04:45:59 PM
I've got stuff at home I never use and some of it really isn't worth enough to fuss over selling it do I'd feel better just giving it away. I'm at work now but when I get home I'll put some stuff up that I'll only ask for shipping money in return. I have a lot of pickups, a pedal or two, strings I'll never use and possible even a cabinet or two I'd be willing to part with just to help some folks out. So, I'll post picks and such in a few hours along with a detailed list of freebies. Anybody care to join in?

MESSAGE FROM SUNNO))): SPECIFY WHAT YOU WANT FROM WHO WHEN POSTING!  ::) ::) ::) ;D ;D ;D

(sorry for the modifying of your post, Josh!)

I've got a shitload of new strings I'll never use, mainly plain lights, like 9's through 20-ish's, but there's some wound 20-ish's too...also have a humbucker of unknown make/origin I don't need..

I can use some strings and I can pick them up.

I have a set of straplocks, and 4 unused Gibson witch hat knobs (<--- can't find either of these right away, but I know I have them somewhere. I will keep looking.)

pedal couplers (metal) both straight and offset. 2 or 3 of each.

special end adapters for 1 Spot/Godlyke daisy chains (for Line 6 pedals, Boss, 9 volt, old school mini plug, center positive...) you can't have a whole set but if you just want a certain one or two, let me know.

Arion and Danelectro (Fish & Chips) compressors

DOD Supra Distortion
(sounds fine if you keep the distortion level dialed back, and use it more as an OD)

DOD Gate/Loop pedal (FX 30-B)

Tilt-back 'axles' for a Ampeg fridge cabinet (screw holes didn't line up with my cab, so I just took the rubber wheels off 'em -- that was all I needed, anyway. Home depot might have had the rubber replacement wheels, that was what I was told. Old rubber wheels included, so you know what size to shop for (they cracked from old age).

Printable decal paper (for pedal builders). White or clear. If you need one 8x11 sheet, let me know. Limited supply.

Short 1/4 inch cables with straight plugs. I mostly use right angle plugs now. Two 1-footers, one 3 footer available.

AC adapters (wall warts) for various. Ask for something specific, I might have it.

RCA cables for a stereo components hookup (tape deck to receiver, etc). A few.

11" plastic cable ties, good for securing certain pedals to a pedal board, permanently securing cables etc etc. I bought a 100 piece bag, have some leftovers.

Monitor cam (off topic) and computer cables (USB, internet). DSL adapter for wall phone outlet (off topic)

Please trade me something for these if possible. A pedal, guitar strap, strings, something.
Behringer Ultra Feedbacker - received in trade, looks new. I don't know how well it works, I couldn't get much excitement from it with my setup within 5 minutes, so I gave up.
Electro-Faustus Guitar Disruptor pedal (adds pure noise)
Bent-It dual oscillator with light sensitive control options (no input, output only. good for sci-fi sounds)

My totally irresponsible guitar player* needs a halfway decent 1x12 open-back cabinet. He's got an inefficient/beat 2x12 cab that he can't carry himself. He won't even buy himself new strings, so buying a cabinet is unlikely.

*guy I complained about before. I've actually given him a bunch of pedals and a 1Spot adapter (which he immediately lost). At this point, I have to cut him off for my own sanity, but if there is a freebie/trade involved, maybe it could happen.

I'd take any pickups or beat up shitty cabinets! Also I need to stock up on heavy gauge strings. Help the unemployed!!!!   ;D. Also if anyone wants a practice amp let me know. I got one that I need to get rid of. It's ugly and decrepit but it'll do for home practice.

i have a shit ton of corian, number of colors. good for nuts, inlays, other shit.... if ya need a piece lemme know. Id be happy to send anyone a blank which could be used as a nut free of charge, anything bigger than about 1x3 inches is too heavy to be shipped via a stamp so if ya want a substantial piece we should work out a trade or something.

Gibson Tony Iommi bridge pickup....caution, works but the leads are super short so you'll have to extend them...yours for the shipping cost.
DiMarzio D-Activator pickup set....came in a guitar of mine...yours for the shipping cost
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v495/louderthangod/47506ff8.jpg)
RS Guitarworks 2xVolume and 1xTone pot kit for shipping:
various string sets...I know I have more somewhere but I'll have to find them...I'll even ship them for free if you really want them and actually use these sizes
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v495/louderthangod/13793322.jpg)
Ibanez Soundtank auto wah and DOD death metal pedal...costs about $10 to ship pedals across the country...$5 for the west coast.
Rewiring a cab? these are some fancy Cardas speaker cables...I just don't want to deal with them.
I don't have a picture but I have a Sunn 212LH cab I'll give to someone but they've got to come pick it up.  It's in West Oakland, it's empty and I'd really rather it go to someone that's actually going to use it rather than put it in a giant gear pile.  The cost is 1 beer at one of the gigs you use it at.  Hell, I might even find some speakers for it.  It comes with internal rope lights!

This OctaBass doesn't work.  I barely used it and it's been collecting dust for years.  I can't imagine too bad happened to it but there's a lot of crap in there so I'm not going to attempt to fix it and I really don't play bass anymore.

That Iommi is a winner. Hopefully someone gets it and makes great use of it.

I'll take those Diactivators. I'd like 'em for my Jackson dinky.

EDIT: Soon as I put those Diactivators in, a perfect condish Duncan SH-4 comes onto the free market.

Clockwork i'd definitely take you up on those strings I actually prefer 11's and 12's over anything else cause I like to tune to A and B standard. Plus I'm always snapping them cause I like to bend up whole steps and shake the string once I'm there haha. Also I'd pay to have those pedals and that Iommi pickup shipped. My guitars need new pickups BADLY.

Uuh....... fuck yeah.

If you call walking 30 feet to their studio to shoot the shit and get free gear a brodate. The only way it could be easier is if our bands still shared a rehersal space, which we did for the better part of a year.

Broken Crybaby 535Q wah. Turns on when you kick it but rocking it does not change the sound. Could be a simple fix. $5, I'll pay the rest of the shipping cost because I just want it to go to someone who might be able to fix it/use it/sell it/whatever, it does me no good.

Lumpy, I would enjoy trading you something for that Disruptor (and a sheet of the decal paper, as I haven't actually printed/played with it before.)  Let me wrangle some free/trade options when I get home.

As an aside, great thread. And a hat tip to deaner33 for his trade thread, too, which I was just too lazy/busy to contribute to, but is also a great idea.

If that death metal pedal is still up for grabs I would use it. I have some stuff around here. Can't do pics right at this moment. Definitely have
1/4" cabling. Also have lots of rack mounted gear comps and fx processors that I would possibly be willing to trade for instruments, pedals, amps etc. wow

Come at me, bro. I was just about to post how you can't even give stuff away anymore. The Disruptor needs it's own stupid AC adapter (which I will provide) and doesn't take batteries. That's a potential bummer.

Some stuff!  Free to a good home for a good story (and shipping), but trades would be awesome.  Lumpy gets dibs 'cause of that Disruptor pedal I want for some perverse reason.

I have pictures but they aren't cooperating, so... on request.

4x used GE 6550's
- Pulled working from a friend's SVT.  Take all four to hedge bets that some work better than others.

Claimed!

Digitech PDS 1550 distortion
- Cut/boost frequencies and distort 'em. Also has dip switches to fiddle with stuff (including delay!) I didn't use this for a few years, and only recently had an "ohhhhh...." moment where I think I understand it.  Just no room on the board. Missing it's battery cover, like every PDS pedal ever.

Morley Wah
- It wah's.  I've had it forever and never use it.

Claimed!

Arion Tubeulator MTE-1
- TS clone.  I've heard it uses the same 4558 chip, but haven't opened to verify.

Rockman Guitar Ace
- For all of your Boston needs!  Takes it's own 12v adapter, but works fine with a 9v or 9v-adapted power supply. Headphone amp with clean, distorted, and more distorted tones. Sounds like the 80's, for better or for worse.

Line 6 MM4 Univibe, chorus, phase, etc...
- Kinda want a trade for this one. It's missing one of the actuators, but that pad still works - either stick a pen in there to active or try to replace the actuator. Other three are fine.  I meant to replace it, but time makes fools of us all.  Includes ac adapter.  It's beaten to shit, paint chipped, ugly, etc, but then, it also gets stepped on to work, so I never worry about that. If you do, pass.

Claimed!

Digitech PDS 2700 delay/chrous
- Also want a trade for this 'cause I'm reluctant to let it go.  Also beaten to shit, replaced pots, replaced knobs. But the chorus is awesome and usable with the delay,  and the delay is up to 1 sec and has an infinite setting and is therefore awesome.

All tested/working 'cept the tubes.  I'm sad about missing the Iommi pickup, and I need worthwhile humbuckers for my G400 Custom, so keep that in mind.

Hey Xayk, I missed your reply... would you want to trade the Guitar Disruptor and Decal sheet(s) for the MM4? Slightly unbalanced trade in my favor (?) so if there is anything else in my stash you want, we can discuss (I must have given those GIbson knobs away already?)

I can probably send the MM4 to Drasp and he will replace the switch (if that's what's missing... a stomp switch?) He also sandblasts and repaints Line 6 units. (Maybe you wanna keep it?)

Otherwise, I'd trade for the Morley Wah (which I don't really want or need). Or you can just burn me some CDRs, that would be fine too.

Also, those Arion Tubeulators are supposed to be good overdrives (heads up, dudes).

Trading for the MM4 is cool.  It sounds great, it's just beaten to shit, and I don't use it.  I was tempted to keep it just for the Univibe, but... eh.  If you wanna toss a pedal coupler or two in, that'd be swell.  The missing switch isn't actually a "switch" in a 3pdt sort of way, but just, like, a plunger that goes down to hit a lil' pad internally.  So you can use it with three presets or you can have someone try to find the plunger and fix it and have four. Or, again, keep a pen handy and just press the pad with that.

Incidentally, I got it in the thrashed condition it's in, and I paid a fair price, so I'm happy to trade it fairly to someone that'll use it.  Blah blah karma.  ;D  PM me your address, I'll ship out on Saturday.

Yeah I asked about the Iommi but I hadn't heard anything from clockwork about that or the pedals thought maybe he reconsidered or something.

PM'd, looks like we got us a convoy ;)

Some stuff!  Free to a good home for a good story (and shipping), but trades would be awesome.

I can use those! Have'nt had a wah pedal in years and I need some distortion for the new amp I'm getting(I have no effects pedals atm).

CMON MOTHERFUCKERS, THERE IS STILL MORE FREE SHIT.

Sunn0))) ol' buddy, you have a couple of footswitch buttons and mayhaps a .1uF capacitor? I'm makin' a footswitch for an Acoustic 470 and I'm short those items. I'll swap ye for this stack of new strangs, the stack's two inches thick (that's what she said)....you can have the Strat copy neck & body, I think there's trem springs too and saddles on the brizzidge

Edit: Reread yer post, thanks for the parts offer but I'd rather have that thing outbound...

Negative on those switches, they don't last long in the world, here. We'll work somethin' out, once I send hashbrowns his strat body/pickup, and Willie his dist+, I'll work on gettin' that stratocopy down here. I've got plenty of parts fo' it.

If anyone wants that slidey lefty strat, I'll set 'er up real nice and send it to ya! (I may even be able to do a proper hendrix on it and give you a lefty/righty player depending on the quality! It'd damn sure have character...)

Then again, I might like a beater hendrix-y strat.

AREN'T WE SUPPOSED TO BE GETTING RID OF SHIT?

What's this about a hendrix strat?
Lemme know what I gotta do to get on that?
I might have to move to guitar since all I've been able to find around here to play with is one bassist at the moment.

Edit: I know I have at least a few effects at home I'm not using anymore. I'll dig through em when I get home.

Lumpy, how's that Gate pedal? I'm thinking I need a noise suppressor at this point, power conditioning can only do so much...
Title: Re: Free Stuff Thread!
Post by: Lumpy on December 11, 2011, 11:08:31 AM
From what I can tell, the DOD gate pedal is not as advanced at noise suppression as a more modern, dedicated noise gate (ISP Decimator is much more sensitive). The DOD does do some cool stuff -- it can take an outside signal, and use that as a trigger for the gate. I've never had a use for that, but some people might (like, take a drum machine output, and use that as a trigger for your keyboard sound. Or whatever). It also has a looper function (as in FX pedal loop, not sampling looper).

It's also a handsome grey color.

It's a little bit outdated, but I can imagine that when it first came out, it was the only game in town.

Interested?
Title: Re: Free Stuff Thread!
Post by: VOLVO))) on December 11, 2011, 11:15:12 AM
I bet it'll cut off my delay signal. Dealing with the noise I'm dealing with is kind of frustrating because a noise gate is seemingly the only way to cut it out. I've got high dollar Monster power strips on my board, and going to the wall. The T is pretty much silent, the Marshall is a noisy whore. Problem is... it's only noisy with my pedalboard in the chain. The T remains silent with the pedalboard in front of it. Perhaps she just doesn't like pedals. /annoying
Title: Re: Free Stuff Thread!
Post by: Lumpy on December 11, 2011, 11:19:27 AM
What about putting the noise gate before the delay...? I have a reverb after my noise gate, to soften up the decay, or whatever you call it.
Title: Re: Free Stuff Thread!
Post by: bitter on December 11, 2011, 12:27:12 PM
Yeah decay is pretty accurate. I'm a big believer that your gate doesn't have to go last in the chain. Move it around in order to find where it works best on your board.

Yeah as Brian said, any kind of power cable, preferably two core, though you can use 3 core, it's just a little bulkier. Any power cable, or extension cord you can butcher, cut 2' off a lamp cord, I just bought a super long 2 pin extension cable and use it for spare.

Anyone have a junker 4 string bass they want to get rid of? Neck and body will do the trick, don't need electronics or hardware. So long as the neck isn't jacked and the truss rod can be adjusted. Don't care about the cosmetic condition at all.  Ended up getting a Pbass copy for $100 on Talkbass.

...and on the giving end of things, got a pair of gold Schaller strap locks and a capo, if anyone wants them.

Did you get your 6L6's? I've just found a pair of Ruby's lying about at the back of a shelf you can have, vintage questionable, definitely more recent that 1987 though, probably more like 2007 at the earliest. I think they may have came from an almost new amp where the owner wanted the tubes changed straight away, getter looks good and all.

I tend not to buy into that guitar tweakers habit of brandnaming tubes and realise that each manufacturer makes good and bad types of tube, John Chambers reckons the Chinese KT-88's are the closest to the original GECs that you will find, and uses them in some his monster amps.

I think in the pecking order, Ruby's are above Sino's and Sovteks but below Groove Tubes and Mesa's, hence the fact I have a pair of Ruby's in a Mesa Boogie box.

Anyone got a couple tuners for a right handed (or left side of a 3x3 headstock) guitar?

Corey, I gotcha. They're generi-brand but they work fine, aren't sloppy....

Got your cap. By foot switch buttons, do you mean the complete switch?

Sweet, thanks man. I shot you a PM with my shipping info.

Cool, Corey, got your PM, I'll send 'em out Mon.

Riffer, right on man...I actually just need the buttons themselves; I'm using an old rev. tank for a housing...

Editista: I also still have a shitload of strings, pretty much all common plain gauges, no/very few wound ones...

I have a boss os2 I could part with. Overdrive/distortion with a "color" knob to get anything between the two.  Anyone got a couple of 6L6's laying around? Mine are showing signs of death (as they should be. They are the ones that came in my amp back in 87) and I am broke as fuck at the moment.

Sweet!! I actually like Ruby's they have a pretty nice sound. Had them in a Crate Blue Voodoo and I liked them better than the groove tubes that were in it when I got it. I will pm you my info sir.

Found my 4 pack of black Gibson speed knobs. Opened the package and tried one on, it didn't look right (it was supposed to be replacement for DeArmond mini knobs).

if anyone has a set of Dunlop strap locks. All that I need is the button portion that is screwed into the guitar body. PM me if you can help me out.

Also I have an old Dunlop Wah that I don't need. I'm pretty sure that it works.

I also have a NYC Big muff that I rehoused into an orange pedal box. A few things need to be soldered back together but as far as I know it works.

PM me if anyone is interested or can give a brotha a hand
