Jesus, this is the best show I've seen in a long time. Kept seeing reviews about how awesome it is, so I started watching it via OnDemand this weekend. Watched 5 episodes and can't wait to watch the rest. Anybody else seen it?
Yeah, it's got its moments, and the grown up Ms Daines is nice to look at.
Like LOST they are free to wander all over the damn place. Final was last night, DVR'd to watch.
I only saw the 1st episode but now that it's done for the season I'm going to try and watch it all ondemand.

Yeah she looks good, but Brody's wife is where it's at!
I've watched this from the beginning. For the most part the season finale was a great episode, but that last few minutes of the show could have been left out.
Not bad show, better than I was expecting it to be. But imo it should have been a single season show - it seems that the second season having been set up as it was has a high potential of jumping the shark from the get go. They could easily have ended the whole thing with the last episode and just left it at that.
These two were actually high school classmates.

I like her better with longer hair, but there is no way I would ever kick her out of bed.
I'd be pretending she was Inara the whole time...
wha?
Hey, started up again last night. Not too bad.
She was a space prostitute on the Firefly TV series Shaft.
My brother loaned me the first season on DVD, but I haven't watched any of it yet.
did you guys see that last episode!?!@#?!?@#R@R@#FERGO@EO
i am super into this show right now.
Yeah, finally (what happened in the surprise ending) finally happened. I wonder what he will do with that info? Awesome show, plus everyone is always naked and doing it.... like in real life.
I was a little bit disappointed the daughter walked out of her room while Brody was about to smash Jessica. The viewers needed to see her fucked across the kitchen counter.

I agree with that statement.
Wow! That's how you make a show interesting.
fucking awesome.
i knew carrie would blow it somehow, but at least it makes the show move fast.
This show gets better and better each week.

dude Inara is hotter than all get out. I'm surprised others haven;t gotten on the wagon. I know it was several years ago but shit damn
Great show.
I'm not sure where they go from that last episode, though....
Guess we found out..... also, ouch.
so they hit roy with the car? if she's dead now, i'm gonna roll my eyes big time at this shit.
Roy?
I wish they kept the daughter character edgy, it was my better when she was mean, angry and sneaky.
I think the new mouthy Peter Quinn character is supposed to be us, the audience.
roya? the reporter chick that works for the terrorists. was she the one that got hit by the car?
watched it again and it's definitely her that got hit. she isn't unconscious though, so they better not do some death/coma shit.
No, it was not Roya.
Well, this show has got crazy good - the new character is up on the air now
i'm really, really glad it wasn't roya. i thought that woulda been lame as shit.
I love the direction this is going now.... Morena Baccarin didn't add a "no nudity" clause into her Season 2 contract
Nice recapper here:

What cup size would you say she is Shaft (or anyone else)? My wife and I disagree about it.
A cup. maybe a small B. maybe.
We just started this last night. I didn't know she was in this. Man I had such a huge boner for her in Firefly/Serenity. So imagine my joy when I realize it's her with no top on. my goodness!!! I could hardly contain my rapture. My girl didn't like my reaction.
Because of all the foul language?
[spoiler]So F Murray Abraham is Rad Lalah and is part of a black ops operation. Along with assassin Peter Quinn.

Anybody else think this show is rapidly turning to suck?
You doofus, no way.
That was unexpected and super awesome - where is Carrie now? Awesomeness she went back.
Shaft, you don't remember how we agreed to be civil to each other out of Gen Disc?
So you believe in emotional truth as opposed to realism in this show?
I have my doubts too. I disliked the end of Season 1 when the writers had to find a way to keep Brody in the series and turned him in some kind of Manchurian Candidate. Then Season 2 seemed to be OK because Brody was exposed rather quickly. But the last few episodes were going nowhere.
And what about the mole in the government that we (and Saul and Carrie) know about since s01e10 (when Walker detonates the bomb that killed the Saudi ambassador)? Has been dropped from the story completely or did I miss something?
in the preview for the next episode, they showed em talking about a mole/leaks again. so i imagine they revisit it. i also think that's why they were checking into peter quinn, wondering if he was the source of the leaks.
Kaboom
Guess we dont find out who that new guy is
My girl says this starts tonight. True? Is this what I'm doing at 9 or so?
It started Sunday. It done jumped the shark. They should have killed Brody off at the end of the first season/beginning of the second.
Didn't watch last night so I'll probably watch tonight.
it really was super disappointing. this show is now a parody of itself. but i still love mandy patinkin and want to live in his beard.
I just hope they show Morena Baccarin's titties again.

Hell yeah!
And Liz is correct. I'm pretty close to dropping this show from my watch list.
Now the show that comes on after, Masters of Sex, is pretty good. Also has a shit ton of sex, including Lizzy Caplan nudity!
the second episode was better... claire danes plays a good crazy, and that's interesting to watch regardless of the rest of the plot. and the new iranian chick is cute and that storyline could get interesting.
could do without brody's family (we all know morena ain't getting topless again any time soon... that was season 1 episode 1 titties to hook the viewers). could do with peter quinn renegade good guy, too.
although... he was the one that threatened david (head of CIA, black guy, dead now) with bad shit if they kept going after brody. maybe he blew'd it up? maybe that's why they're trying way too hard to convince us that he's a good guy. i dunno. half this show is still in the toilet.
Is every season going to have Carrie being hospitalized? She's worse than the bipolars we got at the Saint D's about taking her meds.
This show is great - there's like 3.5 watchable things on TV right now. Don't be so picky.
1. Eastbound and Down
2. Masters of Sex
3. Brooklyn 99
4. Bob's Burgers
5. Survivor
6. Trophy Wife
And American Horror Story starts back this week.
bob's burgers is back?
i'd like homeland if it was just a show about a crazy lady. or just close-ups of mandy patinkin being quietly furious.
All of those shows blow, deaner.
Homeland
Orphan black
The Americans
Downton Abbey
Walking Dead
House of Cards
That show with James Spader really sucks.
I like The Americans and Walking Dead, but they aren't on right now. The Bridge which just ended was good too. And if you mention House Of Cards, Orange Is The New Black is better.
If you think Eastbound and Down blows, you are gay.
The Bridge sucks, yes to Orange.
I'm not arguing with you anymore.
That was a surprise twist I didn't see coming.
This season has been much more subdued but I like it so far.
A great article in the New Yorker about Caracas gives a ton of fascinating background on the massive skyscraper slum where Brody is hiding out in the last episode. It's great reading: http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2013/01/28/130128fa_fact_anderson
pretty much every latin american city has a section that looks like that tower. it was actually in relatively decent shape. i mean, most of it was concrete. in brazil, you can find favelas that house as many people as that tower, but it's all made of scrap steel and cinderblocks.
if that's something that interests you, you should read brodwyn fischer's "a poverty of rights," about the creation of those slums in rio de janeiro.
between this season of homeland and the jeffrey wright character on boardwalk empire, tv is giving me my fix of latin american/caribbean content.
The boy and girl crazy runaways story is not good. I wish they'd give the girl something fun to do.
Too big of a coincidence that there happens to be a Caracas connection between Carrie and Brody story lines. No reasoning behind why Caracas should be Brody's last stop. Why the hell would he be dumb enough to think that a mosque would be his salvation.
So much dumb in this season I don't know why I am still watching this. Probably for the off chance of seeing Baccarin's sweater-puppies again.
If they would have killed Brody off already we could get on with the show.
Maybe the teens on the run will have a Venezuelan angle.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: this show would have been near perfect had they kept it at one season and have Brody succeed with the attack at the end of that first season.
For some reason, the Americans (unlike the British) have a huge problem with keeping a series limited to 1 - 3 seasons. So many mediocre shows could have been saved had they just had the balls to keep it short and to the point.
Kill the vice president and we're out?
Yes. it would have been glorious.
the uppity euro is right.
damn right I'm right.
On 24 they just went onwards to the next bad guy up the chain. They could do that here - and she could crash with a guy from a liquor store.
And action! That's what they are done gonna do. Thankfully.
I really want to like this show, so I just look away when something annoying happens, like with walking dead.
I'm a week behind on the show, but what the fuck was up with the drawer full of pregnancy kits?
A window into the extent of her hidden madness. The Internet collectively groaned when it found out the show was going in that direction,
I wish Headscarf was a little less wussy character, if they would have made her aggressive and with a backbone it might have been better.
Saul blacking out the windows on the conference room with the remote was a hell of a moment. How long until Quinn is getting himself in on all that crazy girl fucking? Carrie has a nice butt.
The story line with the senior undercover Iranian badass shows promise - it's the CIA they are supposed to be doing big things instead of worrying about a few minor characters.
Now this show is good again...
About now it's still good again.
The last episode was particularly awesome. Homeland is officially good again.
Carrie, F Murray, Brody, the two tech guys and Mr Whitehouse are all humming along on one storyline.
The Senator character as foe to the CIA might be nice but as written and as acted it's not working. I wish they'd find something for Quinn to do. Carrie's pregnancy story is horrible and needs to go.

Shockingly, I agree with you on all points, Shaft. Quinn is severely underused. He's almost too nice now, too. I liked him better when he had a little more edge. The pregnancy story is beyond stuppid. Fortunately, I really like the Iranian mole and hopefully he will be at the forefront for at least the next episode or two.
This season is going to end with some deaths. There's only 2 left so they need to do something splashy.
What EZ said. Single season would have been great but the series becomes more and more ridiculous with each season. And number 3 is all over the place and uneven, start a story-line or introduce a character and then forget about it for two or three episodes. And don't get me started on the whole daughter drama.
What?
Brody's explanation to Iranian intelligence wasn't very convincing, good thing Nazir was there to grease it through. I am not convinced that Carrie would just be free to wander around Tehran. I liked her bossing around the Mossad agents.
Quote from: MadJohnShaft on December 09, 2013, 08:08:38 PM

Why not? Iran does have a tourism industry and it isn't exactly North Korea, though your Big Brother is probably telling you otherwise. And she's traveling with a Swiss passport - those will get you in anywhere.
I too think this season has picked up a bit. But on the whole I still think it should have ended with season 1.
Surely they know Carrie is a CIA agent. She was in the damn news and Saul testified about her to congress.
Anyway, Brody's proven adept at getting into tight places sure was prescient.
I see your point. And I guess if they used facial recognition software at the Tehran airport, they'd have had to recognize her.
God, what a trainwreck of a season. Felt like the showrunners and the writers were totally clueless how to continue or develop the story. Season 2 was not very good but this one was atrocious. I want 10 hours of my life back.
Granted.
Agreed. and why the fuck is there going to be a fourth season?
I thought it was a strong ending. A bit melodramatic and sentimental, but I was okay with that. A great death for Brody. Overall, a much better season than 2.
If you Europeans keep watching the show after all your complaining, I will fucking laugh.
I am curious to see where season 4 goes. I hope they write Saul back in as part of the private sector, working for a defense contractor or something. That would add an interesting layer.

Agreed up until the whole fence climbing drama shouting thing. Ruined the entire death scene.
QuoteOverall, a much better season than 2.
Maybe, but that's not saying much at all. And the season was only partly redeemed by the last couple episodes. First half of the season was treacleville.
QuoteIf you Europeans keep watching the show after all your complaining, I will fucking laugh.
Chances are, I'll be bored enough to give the next season a chance. Hell, I was bored enough to wade through this year's season of Sons of Anarchy.
The whole fall TV season has gotten to be pretty shitty these past two years. Only Boardwalk Empire was really any good.
QuoteI am curious to see where season 4 goes. I hope they write Saul back in as part of the private sector, working for a defense contractor or something. That would add an interesting layer.
I'm curious to see how they're going to try to salvage this show after that show ending epilogue they did last Sunday, and without the gloriousness of potential Morena Baccarin nudity to make up for the shittiness of their plot lines.
I am out. I thought that they were finished and was rather surprised to see that a fourth season is planned. Not going to bother with it. Carrie was a really interesting character in the first season but is totally unbelievable and annoying by now. The coming and going of characters and story-lines in season 3 was just lame television. As was everything in Iran.
My hopes are on "True Detective" (only eight episodes, going to be over in a heartbeat) and I got a couple of episodes of Mob City somewhere on my harddrive. Anyone seen that?
Never heard of either. At the moment a French show called 'Les Revenants' is keeping me thoroughly entertained, and Treme has started up again which is always nice. Really looking forward to Justified in January, and The Americans and House Of Cards in February.

Les Revenants was pretty cool, even bought the Mogwai-soundtrack. Forgot about The Americans, that was good too. First two episodes of the new Treme-season are on the harddrive.
Mob City is a TNT-crimie-series created by Frank Darabont and True Detective is a HBO-series with Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey, directed by Cary Fukunaga (Sin Nombre)
Well that ended all right. I'm waiting for The Americans and Orphan Black (the lead just got a best actress nod so that should help the show) to come back.

I'll check out both. And I'm also looking forward to the next season of Orphan Black.
Orphan Black was good too. Think we hijacked the thread by now.
Hm, you Euros may like American t.v. more than I do.
I am intrigued by True Detectives. Mob City, meh unless proven otherwise, I am tired of gangster shows/movies, including Boardwalk.
Justified is one of the most consistently entertaining shows out there, it always delivers.
Treme is really good, I look forward to the final season.
I am watching season 2 of American Horror Story on Netflix and it's surprisingly good, and quite disturbing in parts. A big improvement on season 1 so far.
I have never seen The Americans, but have heard good things.
I just like good TV a lot more than most people I know do. It just happens that a lot of it comes from the US.
There's enough good and really good stuff coming from other places as well: Luther, Top of the Lake, Wallander, Forbydelsen, Les Revenants to name a few.

I really liked Top of the Lake, and have heard a lot of good things about The Returned.
I just ordered a UK BluRay of Broadchurch, which a friend has been raving about.
Check out Luther if you haven't already. Probably my favourite crime series.
Broadchurch looks interesting and has been queued for download. Same with first episodes of Mob City.
Broadchurch is OK to good. Its a mix of Twin Peaks and Rosamunde Pilcher which is fascinating in a way but too mainstream at times.
Another good British series is The Fall with Gillian Anderson and the guy who landed the Shades-Of-Grey-role.
I was disappointed with The Fall. An interesting set-up but it didn't really go anywhere. A bit tired of serial killer stories as well.
I've got 11 'The Wires' to go and then I got nothing to watch.
Saul didn't actually say who Carrie was when talking to congress, did he? When was she in the news?
Yeah, maybe not otherwise she would never have got the promotion to Istanbul.
Or not. She's in Kabul, or not.
Season 4. I'm going to watch this again.
She totally jerked off that kid.
And then she did the same thing to Quinn on the phone too.

Uh... Guess I was right about that, eh? The CIA rules.
Holy shit this show has still got it going on, I haven't watched last nights episode, but last weeks........holy fuck! I kinda wished Saul would have offed himself, but then again....
I'm glad this show seems to be getting back to the greatness of the first season.
And all it took was to get rid of that ginger fuck and replace all the melodrama with actual spy shit.
:o Holy fuck! This episode had me on the edge of my seat and now I have to wait 2 weeks to see what happened????? Grrrr :'(
This has been an awesome show every week this 4th season. Once they went to back to spycraft over all the personal stuff it really took off. Episode 10 was just brutal.
I was hoping for a Quinn episode it's been a while since he killed a bunch of people.
Totally stopped watching this show. Only saw a couple of season 3. Was tired of Carrie. Just got caught up. Hooked again. I love Quinn. Super nutty badass just barely hanging on. I loved the part where he went hoggin'

Your prayers were answered, however I thought Ep 11 was lackluster, fucking Carrie should have let Quinn do it......bah
The reboot of the show to Germany has put some life into it plus they have Peter Quinn in full on CIA assassin mode. Love it.
Ich bin einverstanden.
I didn't think Saul's reaction to the plane blowing up was realistic....maybe it's me....perhaps he was a little happy it blew up
That one two punch with the redial on the Russian's phone and that occurring just after was well done.
WTF
This season is great so far.
I was suspicious that woman was boning Saul
Fuck that cunt!
Quinn is the man, trying to die in a dumpster to save Carrie
This is by far the best season, except for maybe the first season. I like the plot and the way it keeps you thinking.

R.I.P. Quinn, R.I.P. Allison (badass how Saul was behind that)
It kind of fell apart towards the end of the season.
Probably if you want to bone Carrie, it helps the show
