Hey hey, Pelican returned in January and I didn't even realize until last week. This is a little 4 song EP, but it certainly delivers. Listening to this made me realize that, while there are a boat ton of bands that have that instrumental or nearly-instrumental post metal kind of sound, Pelican really has their own voice, one of the originators and still one of the leaders, if not the leader of the pack for such music. There is something distinct to the voicing the guitarists use, and this recognizable Pelican flavor is very apparent to me on this release.
This is Pelican being Pelican, and it's right up there with their best IMO.
I'll get it, even after being disappointed since FIOTBTT.
Classic Pelican. :P
So, did they get heavy again? Ive been angry with them since they told me they would play Drought live for me, and they never did

This new ones got lots of acoustic stuff on it. I've always liked em but I will never see them live again.
I actually rather like this new release its pretty chill and their mix seems to have a bit more clarity. My only complaint is on a 4 song EP 18 minutes long having a 42 second volume fade in at the beginning is pretty fucking annoying.
The final riff is awesome, I need to point that out. Super gravel fuzz of death.
They are still in biz? Good. I saw them a million times back at their peak and they hold a warm place in my heart even if they decline.
I was pleanatly surprised with this album. It's better than what I was expecting it to be. Plus, its got moments of earlier Pelican which is always a good thing.
iTuned it, oh yeah, Stoner Rock on iTunes. Oh yeah.
I like when I buy stuff, cause it winds up on my kid's iPod touches and then later I catch them listening to it
If you ever catch them doing anything else just close the fucking door for chrissakes. And I like Pelican too. I've done it to Pelican...........with a girl I mean.
A pretty girl?
This is okay, the first song is a little long for a light into thingy but whatever. The middle two are the meat of this fine EP, some newer guitar noodlings in the 3rd one.
The last one is a bit out there and I think works. Out of tune acoustic guitar a little freaky, but hey....
Just saw them live they played some of these tracks translates well live. Although the club (Lincoln Hall) was pretty fucking lame kicked out my sister and my drummer before Pelican came on for absolutely nothing. Normally when you get booted from a show you at least know the reason annoying.
You know the reason
