Here's a list of cool stuff on Netflix:
The People vs George Lucas
Audition
Archer
Rubber (I don't know, I was pretty high when I watched this so maybe it was funnier at the time than it actually really is)
Black Adder
Dumplings
Hobo with a Shotgun
Dead Snow
Killer Klowns from Outer Space
Spinal Tap
Y tu Mama Tambien
Troll Hunter
Human Centipede
How Beer Saved the World
Mad Men
Santa Sangre
Pink Floyd: The Dark Side of the Moon
Frank Zappa: Apostrophe
Cream: Disraeli Gears
Now... these are my favorite Ted Talks that I seriously encourage everyone to watch (youtube links):
David Gallo: Underwater astonishment's (amazing stuff)
Louie Schwartzberg: The hidden beauty of pollination (absolutely beautiful)
Marian Bantjes: Intricate beauty by design (really cool design lady)
I'm unemployed and need stuff to watch, so please do suggest cool movies, shows or tedtalks that are available on Netflix.

Thanks for the list. I need to start using my Netflix account more, I'm going to check a few of these out.
If you haven't seen these, check out:
Cosmos (with Carl Sagan)
I Like Killing Flies
Melancholia
The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia
American: The Bill Hicks Story
Last Days Here
Jim Gaffigan: Mr. Universe
I didn't know last days here was on Netflix! Gotta check it out again!
Also, there's a cool sabbath doc in there too.
Just watched "You're Ganna Miss Me" a documentary about Roky Erickson, lead singer of The Thirteenth Floor Elevators/Roky Erickson and the Aliens. I enjoyed it mucho.
I saw that one too... It was a little depressing :(

shit, totally missed it :/
I've watched some good stuff on the streaming Netflix site as well. So far, I've caught all of 'Louie' (originally on FX) and saw a really good, but very, very sad documentary named 'Dear Zachary'. Now, I'm starting to make my way through 'Arrested Development', which I've never saw when it was on.
I also caught 'The Wild, Wonderful Whites of West Virginia' which, while amusing and sometimes a bit sad, lacked a bit in terms of being a really good documentary. If anything, it was lacking in terms of substance and seemed to exploit a little too much and inform too little.
Another somewhat good documentary was 'Knuckle' which is about two 'traveler' families in England that have feuded for years and settle their differences (not really) with bare knuckle fights out in the country. This, too, was a little light on shedding light on the subject at hand and, perhaps, a little too heavy with the fighting itself, but I enjoyed it.
I've been making my way through Season 3 and 4 of Battlestar Galactica (re-imagined) on Netflix. I somehow didn't give a frak about it when it was first on, but now I'm hooked.
-Caprica
-The entire "Classic Albums" series is great.
-Tom Dowd and the Language of Music
-Music Instinct: Science and Song
-Lilyhammer
-Shameless (UK version)
-Silk
-Luther
-Earth 2
-Damages
-A shit ton of whole seasons of short lived tv shows. Ones I either didn't care for when they were out, never knew of, or they're British.
-God Bless America
GS, I'm going to check those out! Might have to take a raincheck on the depressing one for now... I'm in desperate need of uplifting stuff right now :)
I'm also going to start watching Arrested Development, I have plenty of time to catch up before the new season starts!
Neighbor664, a good short lived brit show that i've seen recently was Sherlock (might or might not have Holmes in the title)!

Ugh, Dear Zachary was beyond depressing. So many different things wrong happened in that one. One of those make you hate humanity documentaries.

That scene makes the whole movie turn happy to me.
I started watching The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret on Netflix. Its pretty funny, if only a little too absurd at times for me.
Tom Waits - Big Time
The shit in between the songs is weird and silly, but, man, the songs are so fucking good.

Yeah, definitely a happy ending to a doc with bummer parts. Also, I was ignorant to The Aliens band and am flabbergasted as to how they slipped under my radar. Prolly that stupid birth date of mine. Either way, great rock and roll band. Dude's voice is legendary.
I just watched The Hunter and Anti-Christ recently on Netflix. A Willem two-fer. The Hunter is a bummer but interesting with a not unimpressive computer generated Thylacine. The other is one of the few horror/suspense movies I've that opens with full penetration within the first 15 seconds of the picture. Maybe I'm a pussy movie viewer. I did chuckle at the blood cum scene. I recall a similar scene in Nekromantik and wonder if the director is purposely going to for comedy because when I see blood shooting out of a penis I can't help but laugh.
Blood cum huh? I'm adding that to my queue :)

Just watched "God Bless America".
Dark comedy about a divorced man who hates American pop culture, is diagnosed with a brain tumor, and decides to go on a killing spree starting with a spoiled brat he saw on My Sweet Sixteen. I teenage girl joins him and they rampage the country side killing reality tv stars, conservative talk show hosts, and anyone else they decide deserves to die. Written and directed by Bobcat Goldthwait.
That's a pretty awesome flick
Bobcat has some pent up agression. That being said, i'll prob check that out. I liked "World's Greatest Dad."

I recommend Echotone to you folks. It is a documentary about a few specific Austin musicians, not really hard rockers, but most of themes covered apply to all kinds of musicians everywhere. It's actually been a year or so since I've seen it, but I really dug it. Of course I like all 3 of the musician to varying to degrees, so that helped, but I think everyone should give it a shot. And I hear it is on the Netflix now.
Should we start an Horror-stuff-worth-watching-that-is-available-on-Netflix list?
Human Centipede
Trollhunter (stupid horror counts too ;) )
Creature from the Black Lagoon
Killer Klowns from Outer Space
Dead Snow
Nosferatu
Psycho
Dumplings
Audition
Sympathy for Mr Vengeance
Lady Vengeance
Don't be Afraid of the Dark
BTW...finally got to watch "Last Days Here". What an amazingly depressing film. I was hoping for some killer old vids and concert footage, possibly some rare rehearsal stuff, but what I got was junkies, crack and jail. With some pentagram thrown in. Bobby was a disaster. Probably still is.
God Bless America was amazing. I've watched Trollhunter and Vahalla Rising a good 5 or 6 times a piece. LOVE those movies.
Just got netflix here in Sweden. My daughters just loves it. But selections is quite limited so far.
Saw the Tyson dox. Brilliant acctually!!!
I have streaming AND three DVDs at a time. The streaming library is just too small. Plus I like being able to scan through stuff on a DVD (looking for of course blood guts and boobs).

just re-watched hobo with a shotgun with a couple of friends who had never seen it. smiles all around.
Just watched Treasure Island with Eddie Izzard, Donald Sutherland, Shirley Henderson, and Elijah Wood. It was a two part mini-series. Very enjoyable and worth a watch.
The Comic Strip presents: Bad News Tour :)))
Watching After Porn Ends... It's a little depressing.
I saw that on the new arrivals page, but it seems like guilt trip I don't need.
There's a ton of different perspectives, so there's no guilt trip...
Raylene is really cool about it... Then there's a ton of victims and born again Christians...
I watched the trailer the other day, and only the dude seemed to have fond memories about his career :D
Ha! There's a ton of dudes. Nina Hartley is pretty happy about her career too.
I believe she has a higher level of confidence, intelligence, and empowerment than most entering the industry. As such, I don't feel like she's been taken advantage of like many others. Any indication whether or not she had any substance abuse issues? Seems like it's either [potential] child or substance abuse that is an underlying problem in that world, causing a lot of exploitation.
They made a documentary called After Porn Ends?
I thought the conclusion was always running to bathroom and then using a bath towel to wipe off ???

I don't know if this has been discussed before, but what does Netflix have against alphabetical order, or order in general? Do some people prefer their movie browsing to be the last 6 movies you watched stacked on a meaningless random pile?
I wonder how many people here have cancelled their Netflix? I'm thinking about canceling mine. DVDs will sit there gathering dust for months.
I canceled mine when they raised the price. I'd rather go to redbox
Redbox don't carry what I like to watch.

I find it to be pretty lame, honestly. The streaming aspect has so few movies I want to watch and ordering through the mail is, sorry, kind of a hassle and, yep, I never get around to watching them, either.
Lots of kids shows on streaming, invaluable for this parent.
yeah, i like to stream tv shows that i'm way behind on. and i'm keeping it for the reboot of arrested development that will be on netflix only. i don't have cable and i don't bother with the DVD rentals, though. shrug.

You're doing it wrong! :-)
Streaming is invaluable for watching season after season of TV series .
There plenty of good older films but this is its strength.
For older films you should also check out Hulu, for $7 a month you have access to the whole criterion collection.
I use the Netflix Streaming all the time but never watch the single DVD.
Stupid Comcast finally made it easier to OnDemand most TV shows but they are always a few weeks back from current episodes.
Amazon has a streaming service too, I wish they would add an icon to Apple TV for it, I forget I can watch Amazon vids and stream to TV.

Yeah, but that' s the problem. Their "strength" is available for free all over the place. I don't understand why more movies aren't instant play (well... lawyers), but yeah, physical disks, even blue ray are the Compound Disks of today.
I don't want to have to touch stuff to look at stuff.
One problem with streaming though --- the resolution is not high. The images look chunky, I guess because they compress the films in order to stream them with no hiccups.
If it's supposed to be an especailly beautiful movie, or with amazing effects, I would rather watch a disc instead of streaming.
My wife has gotten a ton of use out of the series library on netflix, it's easier for her to maneuver than the web, plus the lousy 'free stream' resolution. She's been a member of netflix for years, and still get's DVD's; usually the stuff not available on streaming.
My biggest gripe with all of subscription streaming is I can't get 3-D movies outside of a handful of kid flicks. I have a schwanky 3-D TV and haven't used that option once. Last June, Netflix, vudu, cinemnow and the like all had films like Clash of the Titans in 3-D or whatever.
But not now - Hollywood and it's lawyers need to squeeze every last cent out of Blue Ray players.
*shakes fist*
Actually 3-d didn't take off like they had hoped. They put more $$ into what people buy. Most people I know hate 3-d with a passion. It hurts their eyes as they always complain about it. Even the kids. You are just going to have to live with the fact that you got duped into buying a television that you can't take fully advantage of.
It was a gift.

Our newer Apple TV streams Netflix in 1080p and it looks perfect.
Our TV does 3D - we looked at it a few times then never again. Mostly because you have to sit up and can't lie down with the glasses on - what good is that?

Well this series premiere was definitely something. Acting wasn't great, story made no sense, but I couldn't stop watching. Just takes a few episodes to start making sense, but then gets wackier as the plot progresses.
Been watching lots of great stuff on Netflix
The Roky Erickson doco was eye-opening and heartbreaking, and hit very close to home as my lady is very good friends with Sumner Erickson.
Also I can't recommend enough Wayne White: Beauty Is Embarrassing. One of the best artist bio-docos I've ever seen.

Arn the Knight Templar - the complete series
This is the comprised of several separate movies/tv specials and is roughly 6 episodes long. Follows a young Swedish man and his lover who are forced to serve penance after she becomes pregnant. While she ends up in a convent, in time he becomes a knight Templar and spends many years fighting in the holy land. The story bounces between there and Scandinavia as both hope to one day be reunited. Apparently, the entire series had a relatively large production cost and it truly looks great and the acting was surprisingly good.

Longmire - Season 1
Much like Justified, I can never seem to keep up with this show. Had intended to watch it last year and completely spaced the whole season. Now that the season 2 premiere is coming up on 5/27, I'm glad I could get caught up. Pretty impressed, it reminds me of Justified with a hint of NCIS because of a couple of the characters. The biggest selling feature would be the beautiful actresses and New Mexico scenery (even though the show is set in Wyoming).
Hemlock Grove - bitter beat me to it.
we're a few episodes in and it holds my interest for the most part. worth checking out if you're into the werewolf type of stuff.
edit: Netflix also has season 1&2 of 'The Killing'. I guess season 3 is running right now. the wife watched both and yeah, the cop/cop interaction was pretty good.
I can see why people would loathe this show though. It was long and drawn out enough being able to watch back-to-back episodes on Netflix, two seasons of a weekly series to find out who killed the broad would have been frustrating as all get-out.
Nova: Secrets of the Viking Sword
Awesome. About a series of crucible-steel Viking Swords that were around 800-1000AD. I want to hang out with the blacksmith who forged one of these swords for the first time in 1000 years.
The Dust Bowl (Ken Burns)
Wow

Did you see both versions? Very different movies, of course House of Exorcism didn't make as much sense, but the boobs were nice.
Huge Bava fan here.
No, just the 'House of Excorcism' version.
and yeah it was pretty damn confusing until the end. Most of the time I was wondering which 'zone/dimension/time/hell/psyche' was the most relevant.
But I guess that kept me engaged, because I thought the end was a cool spin on the whole possession thing, even though the house angle seemed to come out of nowhere and was extremely abrupt.
just read the wiki page on the film(s).
wow, lots of drama surrounding that flick. I totally agree with 'The Exorcist' ripoff comments. After reading the plot of 'Lisa' it seems like a straight forward 'devil claims a soul' movie, no where near as convoluted as 'House'.
I'll see if I can find that on the innerwebs.

Prehistoric
6 episode series on 6 major American cities and what they were like during certain epochs of the past -- 12k years ago, 2 million years, 100 million years, 300 million years, diff times for diff episodes -- taking flora, fauna, climate and plate tectonics into consideration. Cheesy at times but pretty fascinating over all.

I can't be bothered with downloading, torrents and shit so Netflix is great for me. Because of my job I don't have time to follow any series on TV either. Scandinavian Netflix has a poor selection compared to US Netflix, but you can past that (depending on the device).
The quality isn't great, but it's flawless on my friends TV. Don't know if it's the internet connection or difference between my TV and his PS3.
Some good series:
Arn
Red Dwarf
Walking Dead
Star Trek
Metalocalypse
The second season American Horror Story recently started streaming on Netflix. I binged on it and it was really entertaining, much better than the first season, IMO. Some genuinely disturbing moments in it.

Watched all 6 or so episodes of this. Chloe Sevigny is a transexual hitman/woman who discovers that her former girlfriend is dying of cancer and gave birth to their son many years ago. Very interesting show, unflinching, including at least one shot per episode of Chloe naked with a (prosthetic) cock dangling. Drama-focused, not so much hitman murder action, though it's in here and there. I loved it.
interested.
Orange is the New Black is back too
I just saw that All This Mayhem is on Netflix.

Worth a watch Groove?
Yep, well worth it.
It's crazier and darker than even the Gator movie.
The Pappas brothers are true lunatics and insane skaters.
Everything you never liked about Tony Hawk is backed up again from a whole younger different generation.
Just joined Netflix. I'm catching up on the Sons of Anarchy series (I'm behind a bit)
I'm watching it on my Xbox 360 and I'm not 100% thrilled with the interface and the use of tiles for movies. Still I think it's a great value.
My question is: How often do they change the films?
There's new stuff every week or so.

No kidding.
Every few years I mellow my judgment on the guy and then something (like this movie) sends me back to my original stance.
After watching
All This Mayhem, I realized how much like his Father he's become.
Remember Frank Hawk's bullshit National Skateboarding Association. Some contests made you join that stupid thing and pay a membership fee before you could even enter the contest. Thanks for bringing bureaucracy to skateboarding, dick.
Hell yeah I remember that bullshit. It's sort of what I was referring to, especially the light that was shed on the X-Games in the Pappas brother's movie. Corporate/Little League bullshit, for sure.
I caught Metalllica's Through the Never. I was surprised how much I liked it. The cinematography was the star of that movie.

I liked this movie a lot and I'm not even a fan of skateboarding at all. Definitely a good movie (if not a bit grim) about two of Australia's best talents, The Pappas brothers, and their individual falls from grace. Both tragic in their own right. It was very well done and brought back some nostalgia for me when they focused on Hawk trying and, finally, being successful in pulling off the 900. That cemented his legacy then and forever. Hawk was not a well liked guy, apparently and not overly respected, either, by most of the other skateboarders. As I said, very good & interesting movie.

Word, black. How I've always felt.
I just started to watch Marco Polo. I like it but it can't recommend this movie to everyone. It's very slow the first 6 episodes or so and there is a lot of setup. The titular character doesn't really do anything until later on. He is a weak protagonist for the most part.
Still I'm a sucker for period pieces and the show is improving. I don't see it getting past 2 seasons though.
All This Mayhem along with the docs on Gator and Christian Hosoi makes up for a pretty fucked up trilogy.
Fuck you!
Hardcore skating usually attracts hardcore people.
It helps if one came up through Punk Rock.
Guess that's true.
