So the band I play in is called
Straighten The Crooked
We are a three piece and we are thinking about changing our name. Straighten the Crooked doesn't exactly roll off the tongue. There's a lot of misunderstandings like straight and the crooked etc. Problem is we've been playing shows for a while under the name, recorded, website, Myspace, etc. And we were invited to play a big show in July and they want logo info for their website and posters. We like the name just seems hard to remember and understand.
What's your opinion? Cool name keep it or change it?
My last band's name was Aphiskkyu-Bot. I say go with what you have.

My band is called Pagan Wolf Ritual, last show they put us on the Marquee as PWR. Apparently in some circles that's short for white power......it's really weird having to explain to someone who is very racist, that you are not. So we're sort of tossing around the idea of a name change, too. Might just drop the Ritual and go with Pagan Wolf.

I say stick with it. But then again I don't have to deal with it everyday. If you are unhappy, change it and let the promoters and such know its the same band. Your loyals will know as well and who knows, you may pick up new fans with a new name!

^^^That is funny. Nothing like trying to explain yourself to a fascist... thats a no win situation for sure
If you've already got a fan base of some sort that knows you then the best bet would be to keep the name.
It will save confusion down the line as well as the leg work of reestablishing who you are.
My band was Don't Horse it... we shortened it to DHI, and it ruled.

Funny one of my wife friends put a sticker on her I phone after she made me promise we weren't changing the name. Fuck it it's all about the riffs not the names.
If you're not looking to 'make it big' there's no need to change it. Even then, you have a good band name, so stick with it. At least if people are not getting it exactly right, they're still remembering it somewhat. They'll eventually get it right.
Change it to "Mothership" so beardofchutulu has another reason to change his bands name!
One quick google search ended that debacle! I pulled up at least 8 bands by that name. It's already been said once here, it's all about the riffs. The fucking name can wait.

I would like to suggest a name change as I really don't like it, but for one I am having way too much fun, two the guys have been great, three I am chuffed they asked me to join and four I don't have any ideas what to change it to! Hence, I will most probably just go with it! Can't wait to record some stuff to show you lot.
I don't think you have a reason to change the name, unless you're going to change the style and/or members and don't want to be associated with what you did before. There are a lot of seemingly difficult names out there. In the end I don't think the name is such a big deal, if they hear it enough people will remember it and get used to it. They will also start to associate it to the the band rather than the actual meaning anyway.
Edit: Then again my band is called Mangoo, so what do I know. :D
Change it to "Verb the Noun". At least then it will be funny.
