If you had to pick three, and only three, favorite tracks from that LP, what would your choices be?

The 3 longest ones!

For me, that would be:

1) Burning the Midnight Lamp
2) House Burning Down
3) tie:

A) Voodoo Chile (long version, not Slight Return)
B) 1983 (A Merman I Should Turn to Be)

I looked at the track list to pick three and quickly realized my question was quite ill advised. Maybe five would have been a more reasonable number- or perhaps not.

I came up with the following faves:

   Burning Of The Midnight Lamp
   Come On (very cool cover)
Crosstown Traffic (kind of a throwaway, but great for what it is)
   Gypsy Eyes
   Little Miss Strange
   Rainy Day Dream Away
   Still Raining Still Dreaming
   Voodoo Chile
   Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)

Jimi's version of All Along The Watchtower is great, of course. Maybe I'm just a little tired of it.
House Burning Down isn't bad either.

It was the 80's the local used record shop still sold used 8-tracks and by this time you got 3 for $2.00 because they were on the way out, and it was a good way to get lots of music cheap.

Anyhow I had Electric Ladyland on 8-track.

I remember the day because it was raining and there was this kind of hippie-ish chick, a grade above me in school, I had some pretty decent local home grown and she came over and we smoked some of it and I put Electric Ladyland in the deck.

Well you can guess what happened next.

When we were done and getting dressed she said "I don't know why but that album just does that to me"

I was convinced that tape had magic powers or something.

Nice review, I listened to that ceaselessly in high school but never learned a thing about its creation.

Did you know it took Dave Mason 27 takes to nail the acoustic part to "All Along the Watchtower"?

I read that genius is the taking of infinite pains (in order to perfect a creation, or to perfectly realize an artistic vision).

Side 3 brother, with a special shout out to track 2.
