Getting your band on a tribute on compilation album

This is something that I'd like to try to do for my band Mass Driver, and I'm curious about the best way to go about it. Any suggestions would be appreciated

easiest approach; find like minded bands and do it yourself!

control your own music. DIY!

^ This. Won't be easy, but would probably have better luck than approaching labels.

Or, just talk to as many labels as you can think of and see if you get any nibbles.  (Caption Obvious to the rescue, heh)
