Kind of interesting, just came across some clips of a German TV show called Beat Club, they seem to have four Orange Matamps as the stock backline and all the bands use them.

i think this has been brought up many times, its a "backline" for the recording, other bands used the same "backline" in their videos

Word on the street is that Tony hated them

They're probably lip syncing, so it doesn't matter which amps they are standing in front of.
Rock & Roll is background music for teenagers to fuck to.

There's Beat Club footage of the MC5 using the same amps.
Friends don't let friends play solid state amplifiers.

stooge

it is the beat club backline
all the bands that didn´t bring their own stuff used it when appearing on the beat club tv show in the early 70s
i didn´t forget - i just couldn´t remember...

Woody

Check out Stevie Wonder gettin down with the Beat Club Oragne backline.

Captain Beefheart, too!

LogicalFrank

It seems like it was much more common back in the day to hire gear at each town your band played at in general.

Tony Iommi uses Laney amps exclusively. Not sure if I ever heard him say he hated Orange, but Laney's are just as cool imo.
