I just got a epi Sheraton for super cheap. Bought some mean 90s to go in it. Should I replace the pots etc. or just do the cheat method? How important would a pots etc change be?

i think the biggest issue with re-potting and wiring a sheraton, and most thin-line semi hollow guitars is the fact that you have to work almost entirely through the f-hole. from what i understand you need to prewire everything then use some long hemostats or pliers with a bend in them to maneuver the whole thing inside, then attach all the parts to the top.... seems kind of a bitch without the right tools.

that being said, i also believe in doing something yourself. learn a new skill, and dont take the easy way out. whats the worst that can happen? you fail and need to take it to a pro, at least you gave it a shot.

I guess I'm more asking if it's worth it to change out the pots and wires. Or just connect to existing epiphone stock parts.

It all depends on the resistance values of the pots that are in there now and how you ultimately would want those values to color your guitar's tone.

My advice would be to wire it up with the existing pots. If it sounds good to you, done deal. If it's too muddy or too bright, get some replacements that will compliment the pickups better to the sound you want.
