hello,

was wondering if anyone knew the effect he uses live & in studio on the song "secret realm devotion" off punctuated equilibrium(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7OnyFKPtIZE) you can hear it starting at 54 seconds until 1:08. it comes back later in the song too.. i know he uses the parachute wah for alot of stuff, but this sounds like the wah mixed with something else, like a phaser or something noisy.. i've checked out various pix of his pedalboards online & came up empty, i'm thinking it could be the EH Small Stone, but am not totally sure.. any help would be great, really think its an interesting sound..

Sounds like you answered your own question

To me it sounds more like a flanger set on a slow setting, wah all the way though

Undoubtedly a Chicago Iron Parachute Wah, I think he even says it in the liner notes. He steps on er all throughout his live set, the tone is pretty unmistakable. If you're not privy to the sound, it's basically like through-zero flanger effect within a wah casing with a giant sweep (it's not actually a flanger but it gives you the idea). They ain't cheap.

For extra awesome, Iommi used it on most albums post-Vol.4
