He didn't like the guitar, dude was a Jazz/American Classics player, and the SG wasn't his cup o tea. Totally within his rights. Most would just accept the $.

The ultimate metal guitar is the Dean V-coustic. I don't know about the ultimate guitar for stoner rock but I play a 1984 Guild S-100. At work my test guitar is a pre-Squire 1970's Japanese Fender Strat copy.
