Ranbat

I've kinda gotten away from Metal mostly because putting a band together in my mid-forties is getting harder all the time. I had a surf thing going on for a few months, but the drummer just didn't get it. So, I'm back to playing garagey blues stuff. I favor slide and open G or E for blues.
Meh :/

OUTLANDAH

Folkly fingerpinkin style. Riff Rock/Rock & Roll. Sometimes I just slow jam it though.

So, that Marty Stuart dude rolls banjo tuners on both E's so he can DADGAD on the fly. Very, very legit.

With a B-Bender too. Guy is a badass picker.

I used to play jazz music on a trumpet, used to play emo, used to play ska/punk, used to play classic soft rock, but I dont see that happening any time again soon

been playing heavy downtuned rock, but I meddle in teh metalz.  prolly gonna keep doing this stuff for the next 10 years, until my mid-40s and then slow down back into classic rock.

moose23

Noisy dirging hardcore based stuff in Wolfbait and garage punk in New Gods.

Ayek

I can play both stoner and doom. I'm pretty flexible.

ranbat. you mention your surf drummer didn't get it.
interesting. i have like 3 comps of original surf tunes. after steeping in those CD's for a few hours i noticed the drummers.

they, i think by necessity, were fucking wild and crazy BUT, it also seemed that their pool of idols or w/e style you emulate growing up was big band rooted. those guys all truly sound like youngsters taking big band drumming to a different place.
big band drummers were sick to start with and these guys all sound really solid, like they all took drum lessons in school..

just my impression.

i love surf music!
