Saw them in El Paso, 1976. Was bummed that Coverdale was vox instead of Ian Gillian, but the night was redeemed (for a young me at least) with Tommy Bolin on guitar.

I saw them plenty with Blackmore & Lord.

Morse is a great guitarist, but I haven't much liked the material since he's been aboard.

No Jon Lord, however, is the ultimate deal-breaker. I'd prefer a solo Ian Gillan album to "Deep Purple" at this point.
Livin' The Life.

The last line there pretty much sums up my feelings too.

I'm going to go see them I'm too young to have ever seen them in their classic line-ups so this is as good as it's going to get only $11 too.

Seems a bit odd that most of these dates are at casinos and county fairs where in Europe for them it's more hmm I guess respectable venues I want to say.

I can dig it.
Have a blast diasdegalvan. Didn't mean to clog up your thread with the rambling musings of an old guy.

(also, the native american casinos around here often have better rooms--stage, lighting, p.a., sight lines...--than the so called "respectable" venues)
