Obscene Extreme Festival goes Canada!!!

Alright freaks, mark your calendars for August 20-23, as the Obscene Extreme World Tour will be stopping by Montreal, Quebec for a weekend of extreme music madness!

Get your goregrind banana suit ready, put on your gasmask or your most comfortable stagediving costume and get psyched for a wide selection of underground acts. The first Canadian edition of this DIY party will bring the best of grindcore, crust, punk, death, thrash, hardcore, and everything in-between to the stage.

The Obscene Extreme Festival began in the Czech Republic in 1999, and over the past 16 years, more than 700 bands from all over the world have rocked its stage. The Obscene Extreme World Tour was born 2 years ago out of the desire to bring the carnage to extreme music fans worldwide. After Mexico, Indonesia, Australia, and Japan, we're bringing the blasting madness of Obscene Extreme to Montreal, Canada. Get ready for a 4 day trip of fast, brutal, and destructive musical violence.

Some of you can be surprised why we choose Canada for another american Obscene Extreme. We have been trying hard to find a good venue in the US for over a year. I was simply trying everything, asked my friends, asked the OEF friendly bands, everyone I know and almost every person mentioned Canada as the place very close to Europe.

Well, and of course when people mention Canada they always mention Montreal as the place with huge metal/punk/hardcore scene and simply a lovely city to visit! When bands used to come for rare gigs they would always go up there. It has been known to have concerts that come closest to being in Europe.

So another year, another country, another adventure!!!

I personally can't wait to meet all the loyal american OEF fans and supporters face to face!

I want to say that we are very serious about this festival (as any other OE festival) and we'll try to set up a solid line-up for the first volume and try to anchor here for some more crazy shows and years.

"Certains se demandent pourquoi avoir choisir le Canada pour une autre édition américaine du Obscene Extreme. Depuis un an, nous travaillons d'arrache-pied pour trouver une bonne salle aux États-Unis. J'ai tout essayé : j'ai demandé à mes amis, aux groupes reliés au festival, tout le monde que je connais et ils ont presque tous mentionné le Canada comme endroit qui ressemble le plus à l'Europe.? ?Bien sûr, quand les gens parlent du Canada, ils mentionnent toujours Montréal comme l'endroit avec la meilleure scène metal, punk et hardcore, en plus d'être une ville agréable à visiter. I really do not know if it makes sense at all to introduce this French squad. INHUMATE are a unbelievably respected name in the world of extreme music and their conception of grindcore is the most honest and the most furious you could ever imagine. Next year the band will celebrate their 25th anniversary! And that is a fucking reason for a proper party. So, the greatest present you, the OEF fans, can give the band will be a crowded moshpit in front of the stage!
INHUMATE have been well-known for their DIY attitude that is not that frequent these days any more. All of their six albums were put out under their Grind Your Soul prod. A total dedication to the UG scene. Those who had the honour to see their show have to prove me right it is a true grind hell! The stage presentation of this formation is in a word impressive. The forehead their vocalist Christophe smashes regularly with a microphone indicates the way live INHUMATE's music will smack you down! I can guarantee that!!!

Over 20 years? Isn´t it too long? SCHIRENC PLAYS PUNGENT STENCH!!!

The first and the last show of the legendary Pungent Stench in Montreal was in 1994. What the hell ..... And now SCHIRENC PLAYS PUNGENT STENCH is coming ,,back" to play the rotten old school death / grind from these legends specially for Obscene Extreme America 2015! So ... wait, it will be the very first show ever of this original line-up in Canada. All in all Martin Shirenc and his boys will perform the classic Pungent Stench material like "Extreme Deformity", "Blood, Pus & Gastric Juice", "Splatterday Night Fever" and many others for this special occasion only – Obscene Extreme North America 2015!!!

The day Pungent Stench disbanded in 2007 marked the loss of one of death ?metal's most unique originators...and the calls for a reunion have not ?ceased ever since.

Although dissappointed by the sudden split, founding member ?singer/guitarist Martin ,,El Cochino" Schirenc continued to release music ?and play concerts with various other projects, before he finally agreed ?to attend a Pungent Stench tribute show in Istanbul, where he played ?several songs from his former band under the moniker ,,The Church of ?Pungent Stench". Supported by Mike Gröger (Hollenthon) on drums, as well ?as Hakan Nurcanl? (Art Diktator) on bass, this 2011 concert was a huge ?success. Subsequently, Schirenc received numerous offers from various ?promoters to also bring this show to other cities.

??It wasn't until 2013 that Schirenc finally agreed to take ,,The Church of ?Pungent Stench" on the road to grace stages worldwide. The new line up ?continued to feature Mike on drums, but also introduced a new bass ?player, Danny Vacuum, known for his involvement with bands like Genocide ?S.S., Necrony, and The Accidents. The first show took place at the ?Eindhoven Metal Meeting and only marked the beginning of a successful ?series of appearances at the biggest festivals in Europe (Graspop Metal ?Meeting, Hellfest, Brutal Assault, Bang Your Head, Barroselas Metalfest, ?Neurotic Deathfest) and the USA (Maryland Deathfest, 70.000 Tons of Metal).

??Due to a legal dispute, the band was forced to change it's name and is ?now touring as ,,Schirenc plays Pungent Stench". However, the mission ?remains the same: bringing the music of Austria's sickest band back to ?life and keeping the flame burning by refusing to praise the ashes!!!
