MOAR ORANGE THUNDERVERBS!!!

eyeprod

sorry but that looks stupidly overkill. Reminds me of walls of marshalls in the 80's.

liquidsmoke

So long as they are all cranked I'm fine with it.

I don't understand - are you saying a smaller backline makes more sense, and let the PA do most of the work?

Or are you saying excessive stage volume doesn't make sense? Use the house monitors more?

Or are you making a statement about overall volume at a concert?

By the way, there's probably 1000 people at that show, so it's not a small club. It's a big hall. Have you seen Sleep? They are one band where it almost can't possibly be too loud. (Sunn is the same, IMO).
Rock & Roll is background music for teenagers to fuck to.

I'm guessing that show is from Atlanta, where Orange USA operates. Since they're doing a lot of fly-in shows and renting backlines, The Denver show was all Marshall JMPs and 4x12s and sounded great. Matt is one of those guys who always sounds like Matt, no matter what he's plugged into.
poop.

I'm just saying it looks stupid. Like aesthetics are more important than anything else. maybe it sounds good? who knows, but I don't really care.

The Riffer

Yeah, that wa Atlanta. I was there and it sounded incredible. So full and balanced across the stage/ and the entire venue.

As a bass player I'm planning to get a Orange AD200B MK3 bass head and OBC810 8 x 10 Bass Speaker Cabinet.

excessive yes, but there's a real joy to be had from pluggin up a big volume setup like that.  Everyone should at least try it.  It's intoxicating and it makes you want to always play that way.
Vinyls.   deal.

Jake

I agree with the naysayers that Sleep's live performances should be much more modest. Much like how they avoid unnecessary indulgence with hour long songs that are mostly one note.

Mr. Foxen

The massive pile of endorsement deal amps is more to do with so they still have some working by end of concert. Easier to switch out the blowing up ones if they are all set up.

Jake

Heyyyyy-ooooooh! Sick burn, bro.

I hope everyone at Orange dies because the new ones are so much different than the old ones.
poop.

Mr. Foxen

Been doing things that way since The Who.

Volume worship!  Loud music is where it's at.  Everyone in the world has stupid earbuds in even while driving in the car.  I like driving my car because it equates to loud music with the windows down.

Everything is so lame these days.

heh well I am happy with my Orange Thunderverb MONDO ultra doom stack! SLEEP uses it, so its good enough for me too.

Yeah man, I'm not against loud or Orange or anything ;D. I am old now so maybe a little grumpy. I just thought it reeked of marketing or cliche or something. Just a little too much, maybe? I'm sure their show is totally rad and all. Yeah bro......big amps. I dunno, but I'll personally continue to collect big amps at the right price.

That's how most of us have to do it.

Still, if Orange endorsed me & supplied full stacks, I wouldn't turn them down.

There's plenty of other gear I'd willingly play/play through, too, if it was free...

You should definitely go see them, even if it means traveling a little. I don't think you'll say they had too many amps, afterwards.

Do you even stoner rock, bro?

I'd love to. Even a loud tube head cranked into a 4x12 is intoxicating. Or in my case two big 2x12s. Loud overdriven bliss.
