Anyway, since we don't care about that silly nonsense....

I need some fun stuff to do in late May, June and July - Yob? Ufomammut?

I hope everyone is planning on Fireburner, NE Stoner Doom and Crom at the very least.

I would not go to PLV18, since all the bands suck, and the table gaming is weak sauce.

Hah! I saw him in 2000 open for Kiss. A friend bought tickets (floor seats) and rented a limo filled with booze (I don't even know why). I was so drunk that I didn't want to walk out of Ted's set and miss Stranglehold, so I pissed right there on the floor at my seat. I can't believe I did that. I woke up on the street in front of a bar in some shitty NJ town called Linden.
I'm guessing your night will be better (although mine had a few bright spots).

Yeah, to make matters worse, my apt keys were at my friend's house (somewhere in NJ, NOT Linden). This is pre-Google maps- I had no idea where I was. And, it was a work day! I ended up getting a cab straight to my office (thankfully, I didn't have to dress up for that job, although a Slayer shirt and cut-off army shorts weren't really up to code). I felt like absolute shit. Luckily it was summer, so I didn't freeze. I can't believe that the people of Linden (and the bar) let me sleep right on the stoop (and partially on the sidewalk).

So...do I bother dealing with The Sword's crowd to see The Atomic Bitchwax?  Based on my previous experience with TAB, I think the answer is going to be yes.

Edit:

And based on this new video, think my biggest issue with The Sword would be the crowd....and I really don't give a shit about that.

I love TAB (based on show attendance, I imagine I'm their biggest fan), but I'm kinda glad the tour isn't coming to Boston. I'd be pissed paying a lot to see TAB play for 30 minutes and dealing with The Sword's crowd.

Expecting (hoping?) TAB should get at least 45 minutes stage time. Tickets were only $20 and I have dug what I have heard off new album from The Sword, so kinda looking forward to giving their set a chance too. I am not too worried about the crowd, I am sure they will suck but I have never left a concert and had my opinion of the concert ruined because of the crowd. It's probably been 15 years since I saw TAB and I enjoy them a lot more today than I did back then, so looking for them.

I based my 30-minute-set-time guess on the fact that they are playing Irving Plaza in NYC, which is notorious for screwing the openers with low-volume and short sets. Your local "big" venue is probably better. I liked one song by The Sword, and thought they were pretty good when I saw them in a tiny venue (Lit) in 2005. When I saw them in bigger venues with a real PA, I could hear the vocals and didn't like them at all. If it weren't for the lousy singer, I probably wouldn't mind them.

The Sword seems like a quick path to hating this music, so no fucking way, jose.

Interestingly enough, this show isn't actually at the local "big" venue. Maybe ABQ doesn't have enough tight pants hipsters to support that? I am not familiar enough with the venue they are playing to be confident that we can get at least 45 minutes of TAB, but I think its certainly possible based on a fuzzy memory.

Off topic, I am praying my local "big" venue doesn't screw the opening acts as I will be seeing Sleep/Bell Witch and Neurosis/Converge at that venue and I am most interested in the opening acts of those shows...so hoping beyond hope to get 45 minutes from them, at the least. I have yet to actually catch a show at that place to know what their game is.
