My Grandfather worked in the mills. He was kind of an asshole.

Making tacos later in the week I’ll post that to the food and drink blog thread.

Anyone else watching RAW?

Four grandfathers.
I imagine there was at least one grandmother.

I had a Grandma Dorothy too.  She died a few years ago with ALS.  Oddly, a bucket of ice water didn’t seem to help.

Hey Shaft, you ever spend time in Newberry?   We stay there sometimes when we're snowmobiling in the U.P.
It's a cool little town.  There's no butcher shop there(to my knowledge) but it's still got a nifty little downtown area.
I'm really curious what that place was like in the 70's.

Newberry - In the 80’s and then couple years ago for last funeral.  The butcher shop was long gone by the time I was on the scene.  That’s only outdoor rec area now.   I think my stepdad has a brother still there, the rest escaped.

Ironwood is across the border from mobbed up Hurley WI where Dillinger jumped out the motel window in the movie

In the punk rock 70’s and 80’s Newberry had a mental health correction center.  And not the good kind.

Ironwood today is the home of the people that make this hipster hat.

Speaking of lumbersexuals, I asked for a Pendleton wool shirt for xmas.  I got one.

It was made in Mexico.

I want to blame someone from Portland.

Chorizo Pendelton - to stay on topic.

There's still a massive correctional facility there.  Not sure if it's for mental health prisoners, or the general population.

That’s relatively new.  The old place was Newberry State Hospital.  Closed in early 90’s.

Not saying there’s no lighthouse there, but....

It’s 60 miles from any lake.

Perhaps Whitefish Point?  Near Taquamenon falls?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking.  There's several lighthouses up on the point.
9 miles south of there is a small town called Paradise.  Very small restaurant in Paradise called the Berry Patch.  Delicious blueberry pie, my wife loves it.

Thing about blueberry pie is, when I was a kid I never wanted birthday cake. I wanted blueberry pie. Or even better, huckleberry pie.
