My apologies, it's actually the katakana character for "tsu"

Katakana are the characters they use for American words, like if you were going to say "Bigu Bijinesu" to mean Big Business or "Isu Kurema" to mean ice cream. All the hiragana syllables have equivalent katakana syllables.
