Well damn, that happened.

I had thought that this might be a bit of a dud from Alex Garland, despite loving his other films.  The previews didn't really do it justice, and is it really possible to make a compelling film about a second civil war in America?

Boy, was I wrong.  This could very well be my favorite film of his.  It's visceral and ponderous, an emotional roller coaster, propelled by stellar acting and stunning cinematography.

I think another thing that's been interesting to watch is that many media reviewer types thought that the movie would really upset Fox news and their ilk.  Nope, turns out the opposite is true.  Mostly "progressive" rags have bagged the film for being "apolitical", which to me indicates that either they missed the point, or they're basically saying "the film didn't portray American politics in the light that I would have liked them to be shown."

Love it or hate it, a lot of people have a lot to say about this movie.

Thoughts?  Whose seen it?  What are you reactions to the film?
The fact that I kept setting my own boats on fire was considered charming.
