single 15 bass cab

im looking into running my peavey mark iv head into a 1 x 15 cab. i want something kind of on the smaller/easily portable side. any recomendations..
or should i just get a good combo 15 or should i look into 2x10 or 2x12 cabs..

any insight is always apprish..

I've got a pair of really nice 15 cabs. They're custom though. They're pretty shallow, but wide, awesome bass response, with a shelf horn, kind of like half of a Sunn 215H cab.

Did you modify the original post or did I misread it. If you are looking for a small cab, with a lot of low end, try one of those Nady 18" subwoofers, I picked one up dirt cheap, and it's smaller than most 15" cabs, smaller than my 4x10. I've gigged it out a lot. I did change the front grille to one of those round ones that clamp onto the speaker, as the original metal grille would buzz like hell and make you think the speaker sounds like ass, remove the grille and it sounds real good.

For small and easily transportable, take look at a 1x12 or a 2x10, 'neo' speaker, and adjustable tweeter of you need more high end detail (as opposed to 'the motown sound' or vintage rock). For about 300-350 you can get a nice used Bergantino 1x12 that weighs about 35 pounds, rated for up to 300 watts, plenty of bass. For 250 bucks you can get a used Avatar 2x10, not sure on the specs (check the AvatarSpeakers.com site) or a used Ampeg 1x15 (bigger and heavier than the other cabs I mentioned).
