yeah, got that, i just haven't had time to get intensive with it yet. i'll try and post pics and maybe sound clips. as far as the weight i really don't notice much of a difference between it and my strat.

Just picked up this beast.









Vintage 15x12 Ludwig Super Sensitive Marching Snare. Stainless steel shell. As you can see, it's in effing amazing condition, especially given it's age. Trying to decide between upgrading to DW True Hoops or 32 ply rock maple hoops. Opinions?

Yeah, that was my first choice, but no one makes a 15" 10 lug die cast hoop (that I've seen).

Exactly. I'm going with the DW truehoops. Fairly heavy, pretty, and it's what they use on their high-end drums.

Not sure if the wood hoops would like the tension that those marching snares need, anyway.
edit for being nitpicky about forces, the tension is on the head, your hoops are under compression. These guys know how to party!

Yeah, I'm not using kevlar heads or anything, and tension wise I'm generally between medium and the high side of medium. I ordered a Powerstroke 77, which is a heavy 2 ply mylar head. This is a drum set snare now.

Its maple and Fender bass thickness, so is brutally heavy, might be too much.

Yeah. She sings like no guitar I've ever played. A gently strummed D major on this thing makes my toes curl. Thanks to Lumpy for taking extra special care of her.
