YOB, Dark Castle @ The Mink, Houston 7/30/11

The Mink is this club next to the Continental Club. It provides for an intimate setting but since the room is about the size of an average kitchen, it makes loud amps quite deafening at times.

Omotai was the first band, they were not bad but the bassist could have been louder and the songs a little more cohesive.

Dark Castle was next. I had never heard them before till tonight but I love how she split her guitar signal out to a Sound City 200 plus head and 8x10 to a Sunn Model T (red knob generation) with two Emperor cabs with a green muff in front. I am definitely a fan now.

YOB managed to blow Dark Castle off the stage. Played the fan favorites and the new stuff. After the first song they had technical difficulties with the PA for a good ten to fifteen minutes. I unfortunately had to leave at the last song as I have had a stomach bug all weekend and the low end was literally going to make me crap my pants.

Either way, catch this tour.
