Now I actually want to buy that Traynor.

already contacted the dude myself.
theres gonna be some pretty wicked weather up here this weekend though.

grimniggzy

Lancasters a ways away, I'd probably have my dad give me a lift tomorrow if the guy gets back to me and its even possible.
If not I told him maybe next weekend but I'm sure someone will have grabbed it by then.

VOLVO)))

hahaha Solid. I shouldn't buy it anyways. If you get ahold of it, and don't want it, let me know. I'll buy it at cost.

See if he'll meet you in downingtown or something.

Well, if you just want to go as cheap as possible, with zero discrimination...

Spirit Electric Guitar - $40 http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/msg/2566094040.html

Crate amp + 4x12 cab - $170 http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/msg/2566774271.html

Total - $210   ...and you could probably talk that second guitar into throwing in a distortion pedal or talk it down another $10 or so.

Hell, if you're patient and have a little competence repairing gear, you could probably get an entire rig for free or next to nothing. I've gotten a couple free Kramers and such over the years that just needed to be rewired and set up, amps that needed a new switch or a crappy set of drums that needed heads.

i didn't go as cheap as possible. i would really play out wit the rig i described and probably get a decent sound out of  . . .

Haha, you're right.

Hows this?
http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/msg/2527826247.html
Not bad, I got a Nady 18" for $40.

But in terms of sound, you'd be better with the Peavey 2x15, you get more air moved, and more efficiency, they're generally only 150W drivers in them, so they can get loud for low watts like the Traynor's 50. I thought I'd overpaid paying $140 for my first one, as i paid only $50 for my second. I've seen them go locally for $100 or so.

147 dollars worth of parts to a 42.97 Strat fit the bill for me?

Got me beat, I'm thinking of spending $7 on parts to make justin his Rams Head.

2 x $1.89 2 packs of 0.1uF caps        - $4
1 x $2.99 15 pack of PNP transistors - $3

The 10uF cap I already have and the assorted resistors. All parts from the shack, of all places.   :)

So that's like $7 on whatever he paid for it. Of course there's no possibility in the world it's going to sound better than the $100+ originals ;D

The above statement is sarcasm.

I need suggestions for a good non-piece of shit portable soldering iron. Fuck Shack irons, I've been through just about 50. I need something that can go in my tool kit, and doesn't need a wall plug. I guess I could carry a converter but... meh.

This is what's on my bench:

I've had the same couple of shack irons for 15 years, you just need to be nice to them. I keep meaning to get a Weller and never quite getting round to it. They (someguy not shack) used to sell green portable irons, with a red switch, that ran on butane cartridges, they used to be good for on the road stuff, nowadays I just carry the shack iron and use the nearest wallplug ;)

So get butane, or be nice to your shack irons ;D

VOLVO)))

Weller makes a battery powered iron. 20 bucks, bought already, hahaha. I've been soldering on the spot with a butane torch. It's a bitch, but gets the job done.

Wasn't a torch, it was an iron, heated by butane, butane torch, you might as well be doing it with a Zippo or a Bic (been there, done that).

Fender Starcaster (used, $70-$100) through a little SP90 amp (used, $30).
The guitar & amp compliment each other (by design).  Low fi but tasty.

(The newer Starcasters seem to have weaker pups, though)
