If they made a solid state amp that sounded good to me, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Because, at the end of the day, I don't really care how something sounds good, just that is does.

Jimmy Page's Tele/Supro tone is not good on those first couple of albums. Listening to How The West Was Won, with his Les Paul and Marshalls will change your mind if you disagree. (I will admit that it may have something to do with velvet dragon suits and wizard pants.)

A lot of super-downtuned music gets boring for me quickly. It seem like there's a lack of a solid melody in most of it. But for bands able to combine the two, I'm a fan for life.

Unless you're Jimi Hendix, I'd prefer you not step on that wah pedal.

cheap is relative, 1500 hand wired amps are cheap but I dont mind trying to find a solution for a friend

Blasphemy, okay I'll bite but very few here are going to like what I'm chewing.

When "doom" isn't short for doom metal it means next to nothing to me.

Stoner rock, sludge, and doom metal are not generally anymore interchangeable as genre terms than death metal, black metal, and thrash metal are.

If someone referred to all death, black, and thrash bands simply as "death" nobody who knows anything about these genres wouldn't be annoyed but yet just about anything heavy and not fast and/or at all Sabbathy is now simply "doom".

Yes, some bands are more or less hybrids or are hard to classify or have songs that vary.
