so B-E-A-D-G-C-F?
i suppose it makes sense to not use the smaller G-B interval that guitars use because you're not playing chords
but why would you want to play such high pitched notes on a bass anyways.

Lumpy

4 bangers or GTFO.

Not exactly, but kind of.

I was that way for a long time, but after playing standard tuning for so long, I found where a 5 string would have opened up a lot of space.  I've never owned one though.
Vinyls.   deal.

My buddy for 20 years is a huge fan of more strings on his bass. I however am not. It's probably the reason we've never played in a band together.  That and he's not huge fan of the heavy. He's super particular about stuff too like really expensive cables and gadgets.

I did always say we would start a heavy stripped down blues influenced heavy 3 piece. Hasn't happened yet.

Im a 4 string player. Never had the desire for anything more. I played a 5 when i went to arizona for the burn victim anniversary show in 2018. I pretty much used it like a 4 and used the b like an e string. We tuned super low so it worked out. It was a borrowed yamaha bb405 or something like that. It was a cool bass.
Major rager on the 4 string motherfucker.

I'll probably purchase the Eastwood Hooky. I've been hankering for a second bass to my P. The red one would match my faded Fiesta telecaster but I think the white version will get the go ahead.

Going out of my brain wanting to play some real metal with folks who get it. Since March I have been really good about sticking to home. Therefore I have been playing with a very limited circle of players. My brother is a great bass player, but not always available. Most specifically it's the drummer situation. One is a great jazz funk/fusion drummer mostly, and a flake. The other is just not that good and kinda clueless about more than just playing metal. He's also my housemate and a friend of my brother so he feels he needs to be in on whatever goes down and ends up bringing down the whole endeavor.

That last thing you posted reminded me of a heavier Deep Purple kind of feel. I had a guitar Rig in my office and I riffed along to it a bit.

I used to have a couple friends who were just novice players That like to come over cuz I had all the gear. It was like a candy store to them and they'd wanna bash on my drums and just make noise. I'd always cut it short because for me I was down ther with full band 2 or 3 nights a week for hours and to have just racket going on wasn't too respectful to my lady at the time.

I should be more specific. Speed metal and thrash with a healthy dose of fist pumping anthems. I am sick to death with endlessly jamming tepid, meandering, psudo-hippy stuff. I want to find a sick mother fucker who can pound out relentless, brutal, shreddy shit.

Started building stuff again!

New and upgraded tremolo pedal. Up top stomp switch selects between a fixed sweet spot trimpot and an adjustable rate knob

Tube Screamer clone with diode clipper switch for a bandmate

Germanium Fuzz Face. Good Lord. I've only used Silicon fuzz up til now. Like going from margarine to actual butter. Building another PNP version when the parts come in.

Tube Screamer clone for myself. It unseated my DIY modded Turbo Overdrive as low gear dirt on my board. Then it was unseated by my goofy looking Klon Centaur clone.

Dual Phase 90 prototype. Still not happy with the arrangement. Have two other enclosures I'll try

Better than Austin probably. Has it gotten even more "normal" since you were here last?

edit: sorry, slightyl emotional -  I was into FXFW (from the audience) when it was running. It was kind of a wreck too (intentionally?). Good times. I used to party with one of the originators, or one of the originals at SXSW HQ. I miss Austin. Glad I never saw it flood.

How's Red River????  EMO's still RIP?

Muffin Man

ps. Danny looks like he has the paint down real good. What clear coat is that?

Bars/venues are still mainly shut down due to Covid. 1/3 of them have shuttered for good. Very sad. Red River has already been dead for years but Valhalla (former Room 710) is keeping it alive. Much of RR folks now gather at The Lost Well (hope that place survives).

I was getting more into recording and engineering anyway so I've been busy as fuck with album projects tho I haven't played a gig since March. Have had a few offers but don't feel safe doing them yet.

Who knows how the concert industry will look after this.

Trying to remain optimistic tho. Sucks to be losing so many places, but when we're finally past COVID hoping for a golden age/Jazz Era/Harlem Renaissance like after the 1918 pandemic.

Anyway, current board. But things are still shuffling around like a game of RISK.

Klon Centaur (2nd from top R) has unseated the Tube Screamer clone as low-gear overdrive. Already tracking with it.

Bad news on the Orange.   Blown OT.  meh  It was already a replacement Mercury Magnetics.  Found some some shoddy wiring that had been enabling the amp for years then finally gave out.  Every time I opened it I looked at stuff and thought that's gonna be a problem.  Well finally it is.
