dogfood

I've been to The Fort.  I hope their Bison has gotten better.  This wild game trend has gotten bigger so I'd wager that their availability pool is larger.

White Boy taco heaven.  unexplainably good.

And their bar next door/share a kitchen/ business partners Good Friend.

I can ride my bike to some of the best grub and booze in town, in this town, Dallas.  DFW is so fucking spread out it's mind bottling.  Most will never grasp just how stupid it is round these parts.
Problem solving whiskey!

the elk was better than the bison.

"Dirty Fires" from Lardo.  We also got the Korean pork shoulder sandwich and a pork belly gyro.  Scrump.

Yes those are 2 kinds of pickled peppers.  Yes that is rosemary and parm.  Yes that is cubed fried ham.

Went to a new place tonight.  The owner owns a couple other places I frequent.  One other place is a German bier bar.  This place has nicer stuff and a higher end menu as far as German food goes.  Called Stammtisch.  Food was super good all house made.  We had two kinds wurst, bread and obatzda, and jaegerschnitzel with spaeztle.  super good.  Inside needs a little dressing up.

Milwaukee had some serious German restaurants I'll tell you that.  Maders was where you could take your prom date if you were real classy.

There's a couple more here but they half ass it.  Just put some Reser's sausages on a plate with some kraut and mustard.  German food!!  Or some jarred fondu type thing.  German Food!!

Stammtisch takes the time to make everything in haus.  The red cabbage and kraut were ethereal.  Tender spaetzle and super rich mushroom gravy.  They have schweinshaxen for fucks sakes.  After the meal I had an Underberg.

Could you handle the Glutton Burger?

"The Glutton Burger consists of 2 steak burgers, 3 slices of ham, 4 slices of Swiss cheese, 4 slices of bacon, lettuce, tomato, mustard, special sauce, relish, and hot sauce on a toasted bun."

They sure do like their ham at Orbakers.

Super excited about a new place opening up in my little town (just outside of Portland).  I'm thinking these people my just get "it".  The owners pedigree is fairly impressive.

^^Regarding this new place.  They are doing really well.  There are still a few things they need to nail down but all in due time.  Hopefully they change the menu soon.

Went to a new place yesterday for lunch.  Love it.  there's also a Russian place right next door that I have to try soon.

Best onion rings ever!!

RAGER

The onion rings at The Doug Fir are super badass too but they give you a mountain of them and you can only eat about 3 before the grease kills ya.

Yet another brew house opened, this one got mixed reviews. Still want to check out their beer.

For the home of prohibition Evanston is trying to get the citizenry really drunk.

new place in my town. food looks killer. heres a pick of their version of the 'garbage plate' the bow tie pasta in the mac salad makes it quite fancy. cool thing is this pub is about to start having metal nights on sundays with live metal bands..

RAGER

It's actually the red onions that make it fancy.

is that a creamy sriracha sauce?

mortlock

youre looking at a Rochester style meat hot sauce drizzled with yellow mustard over two cheeseburg sliders, homefries, bowtie mac salad topped with red onion.

rager..ill give you that with the red onion however, I think its more the placement of the red onion. they almost make it look like Chinese writing..trust me on this..its the bowtie pasta, and the 'pork' meat hotsauce. and the presentation. this is actually on a plate. I usually have mine in a take out container..

call me hoity-toity, but I think I'd prefer a creamy sriracha sauce to the yellow mustard drizzle

Evanston is getting 10 new restaurants a quarter now and they are all packed. The ones owned by Chicago Restaurants and local residents are doing great, the chains are struggling. City must be making bank and all the liquor. There's no fucking parking anywhere now.

Bangers and Lace bar with food opened in DT - meat and beer.

10 Mile House opened, which is nice because that area by the Stadium has no restaurants - bar food, bbq, and a bar, they are going to get filthy rich.

The bustling food scene in Evanston gets a new entry starting today at 4:30 p.m. with the arrival of Ten Mile House (formerly named The Wood Shed) in the Central Station building. Ten Mile House, named in homage to "Evanston's first gathering point" founded in 1836, will seat 110 throughout its dining room, 25 at the bar and more in the outdoor patio (once warm weather returns to us).

From a team that includes Unite Urban Grill owner Joe Krouse and a kitchen headed up by Lettuce Entertain You vet Greg Carter, Ten Mile House is implementing a menu filled with comfort-food favorites alongside healthier items.

The wood-burning oven will crank out pizzas including The TMH which featureshouse barbecue sauce, white cheddar, pork shoulder, thick cut bacon, roasted garlic and crispy onions. Guests will also have a plethora of ingredients to create their own pizzas as well. Also on the menu are starters of chicken chorizo sliders and gruyere fondue gratin; a vegetarian caponata "sub" and Ten Mile "gyros" featuring roasted leg of lamb with chimichurri sauce; a herb-basted grilled salmon salad; sides including grana padano polenta, and caramelized cauliflower; and entrees like herb bbq airline chicken that features vegetable hash. See the full menu below.

The oven and menu items of smoked meats seems to have inspired the dining room space. The bright, airy eating area features chopping block-like table tops and rustic wood flooring. Inside the dining room at the kitchen pass is a storage space for chunks of wood to feed that oven. Booths stationed at the windows feature bright orange backing, an eye catcher for street traffic. Take a stroll through the space in the gallery above.

See Ten Mile House for yourself when it opens today. They'll be open for dinner Monday through Thursday from 4:30 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. with Friday service operating from 4:30 p.m. until 12:00 a.m. They are open on Saturday for lunch and dinner from 11:30 a.m. until 12:00 a.m., and on Sunday from 11:30 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Stay tuned for updates on when weekday lunch and weekend brunch begins.

Is Chicago Restaurants a restaurant group?  We have one here called Chefstable.  All top notch.

Lumpy

Evanston finally realized how much tax money they were losing, from residents who had to leave Evanston to go out for dinner. Last time I was there, I saw a lot of "PF McGillicuddy's" and stupid franchise restaurants (Nothing But Cookies, Grandma's Soupery etc). They're really crapping the place up.

Also, BBQ sauce on a pizza is disgusting.
Rock & Roll is background music for teenagers to fuck to.
