That proto-stoner rock band at Don's birthday shin-dig was freaking awesome.

megan draper is super hot. i fully endorse the don and megan draper guide to conflict resolution (fuck a really hot person roughly in a pile of garbage).
and i've only watched it once so far, but she did say that "no one loves dick whitman," right? and was then surprised that he told her to go fuck off?
also, i love that there was no betty.

yeah the image of her scrubbing that floor with her ass up in the air almost made me fap on the spot. I love her jacked up teeth as well.
Yeah, she did say that to him which was interesting because there are very few people he's comfortable telling that to voluntarily. Just shows that maybe he does love her.
I was also happy with the lack of betty. She's an annoying shrew and January Jones is a pretty crappy actress to boot.
i think don really does love megan. i also think megan is fucking crazy and will probably be his undoing. and never have i wished mad men was on HBO more than during that dirty-carpet-fucking scene.
january jones is a wretched actress. promos for this weekend had her in them, but i'm hoping it's 5 minutes tops.

I've seen her in two other movies and she literally is playing the same character in everything. She's an extremely average actress with not a lot of range. If you want a cool, detached, wooden performance she's a good choice. If you want anything resembling emotion that's a bit out of her depth.

What a horrid animated gif - is she having a seizure?
So was it a dream?
definitely.
Yes but how much was a dream? There were three distinct segments- him throwing her out, her returning and fucking, then him killing her. Did numbers 1 and 2 happen or were they also dreams?
i think everything other than being in the elevator was a dream.
how would she even know where he lived? that's a new place and he fucked her 6 years ago (pre-season 1). plus, megan left the office and then disappeared from the show's timeline for all of the fucking and murdering. if they showed that stuff, then cut to her still in the office working late, i might believe it.
Good point. I'm with you.. just a thought.

Yes, it was all dream sequences after the meeting in the elevator.
Don's dream sequence felt kinda clumsy. The strangling shot was intense, though.

Best episode yet.
Pete Campbell is awesome.
Really? Thought it was an off week after the last two were so strong.
Great fight.
Love this show. The recent episode was easily amongst the best of this show, the fight was epic.
"You greasy little pimp!" Had me in stitches for a while.
What I liked most about it was that it was just the main guys being the main guys, none of that Betty crap or anything even remotely relating to the main story arc.
I am however, feeling sorry for Pete. I started hating him as soon as he was introduced and since then. Now all of thats being washed away in light of his, apparent, depression. Hopefully we'll see a side of Pete that we haven't yet seen. Exciting.
Oh and yes, Layne is really starting to become one of my favourites. Actually the entire "main office guy team" are amazing. Sterling especially.

Nope. You're wrong. It was a great episode.
it was fantastic.
but i still have no pathos for pete. how do you cheat on alison brie?! he cries once a season, he raped that au pere, blah blah. to me, it's pretty parallel to betty's arc this season. this character we love to hate is suddenly shown to be broken and vulnerable, but they're still assholes. when betty said "your mother's obese," when pete continues to fuck around on his wife (which he will), they're not fully redeemed.
"HE WAS CAUGHT WITH CHEWING GUM ON HIS PUBIS!"
The only time I felt for Pete, was when his dad died on that plane flight, and he found out that his whole old money Manhattanite wealth had been squandered. Then Duck "I killed 10 men at Okinawa" Phillips made him whore his grief for an account. Other than that, I hate the smug little prick and was glad to see him bested (although I figured it'd be Roger doing the sticking and moving).
Also, I want to read all of Kenny Cosgrove's genre fiction.

As for her mother, I'm not sure. They haven't shown her home life since Dr. McRapey told her it was over.

Bullshit, Ted ain't hittin' that. Y'all were right about that Jag scene, it was fucking harsh and sad. Love this show.
I was talking about Stan "The Man" Rizzo telling Peggy to fuck off in response to her betrayal of his confidence.

Ted Chaouoaughgh is a sexless suck-bot. An old spanish (http://www.kindredcocktails.com/cocktail/old-spanish) is possibly the nastiest cocktail I've ever heard of.
Peggy likes hip guys that make her feel daring and liberated.... Stan is her buddy.

Only thing they could've left out was that stupid Insurance weirdo

Okay this show got back on track - it's been a while since they focused on the agency - they wrapped up the affair by having the kid come home and they wrapped up Peggy too. Awesome.

This season is unsatisfactory - I don't know what has happened but this show has gone into the toilet. I bet whatever the finale is, it will be very irritating.
Want to take bets?
Don jumps out a window like in the opening credits.
hmmm... i thought season 5 was pretty perfect from start to finish, but i kind of agree about this season... certain things feel off.
don's entire storyline is completely joyless. sure, it's not feel-good-happy all the time for don in other seasons, but this season has been unrelentingly dark for him. there were actually moments in earlier seasons where he joked or laughed or smiled or something.
roger sterling has been demoted to comic relief. which is sort of ok, because he's great at it, but roger also had dramatic moments and real purpose in earlier seasons and that's pretty much gone now.
there hasn't been a whole lot of office stuff this season. maybe 3 episodes' worth? and at least 3 episodes of "watch something terrible on the news."
in the early-to-mid 60s, everyone looked sleek and stylish and cool. now in the late 60s, they all look like cartoons. i get that the fashion was effing awful in the late 60s, but that ginsberg facial hair has to be a joke.
and as much as i like the 1930/40s flashbacks to don's youth in terms of developing his character, there's something about the production level of the flashback scenes that just seems so... off. it looks like they're standing on a shitty soundstage somewhere.
i still love this show and look forward to every episode, but this season has definitely been less satisfying as a viewer.

Also, Bob Benson told everyone at Roger's mom's funeral that his dad was dead.
Now he's been nursed back to full recovery by some dude named Manolo? ???
I have no idea what Bob Benson is up to. Is his name even Bob Benson?
I thought Betty looked ab-sol-ute-ly stunning but I'm a sucker for blonds anyway. The scenes with her and Don were great and she was right on the money when she was feeling sympathy for Megan who doesn't know yet that loving Don is not the good way of approaching him. On the other hand when Don came back and heard Megan's call to come back to him, he held her which he thinks is the closest you can get to a person. I hope this means he might be back.
Talk about a rough break-up for Peggy. You stab your boyfriend with a homemade spear, then tell your boss who's actually in love with you and all you get is an "Ok. I'm sure you'll find someone else."

Steady yourselves for the bullshit LOST type ending, damn those producers we didn't see it coming. They will not give us a respectful Sopranos type resolution, introducing a slew of new characters in the final half of the season is not sitting well.
don draper, you are the worst dad.
jon hamm, you played that confusion in the apartment lobby perfectly. turning, turning back.
if sally doesn't drop acid and take her top off at woodstock, this show is doing something wrong.
The Ted vs Don drama is a real dead end.
this whole season has felt a bit off. maybe 2 or 3 episodes they've really hit their stride and got it all working, but most of the time it just hasn't worked. i agree, the ted v. don drama is a non-drama. don's relationship with sylvia has been a huge fucking downer from the beginning. not a "bad" season but a real come-down from season 5. they better build to something really big or this will become the season 4 of the sopranos.
Two left - what is the storyline this season? The merger and his affair. They did lots on Don's childhood - that kid didn't seem anything like him and that wasn't connected back into present day.
The thing with Bob Bensen was poor though the shorts make sense now.
^ When he was playing the nice guy and wearing those shorts with Joanne I immediately thought "GAY". It would have been cool if he was a corporate spy, or G-man, well... I guess he is a G-man in a sense. Still I think this whole season has been Don(Dick) struggling with his hidden identity and his past.
I love older Sally Draper.
MJS > Monolo' - Battle supremacy for the worlds classiest mustache.
i think there might still be something more to bob benson. he must've known he was barking up the wrong tree with pete. and after pete called the gays "degenerates," THEN he comes onto him? part of me thinks maybe benson is a sociopath like ken said he was. ken's usually right about people on this shoo.
So what's the big season ending shocker coming up? Divorce from Megan? She can probably afford to be on her own and doesn't need him.
Someone needs to die though, that's the rules on this show.
bob benson's the new don draper.
ken got shot in the face... wonder if this is as close to someone dying this season as we'll get or what. and does pete campbell moving to detroit mean we'll see less of him? because that fake receding hairline skeeves me out. moar purdy ppl in teh office plz.
Deal Glen,
God Tier
xoxo - Token
A lotta turmoil in the wrap up.
What's the deal with Pete's hair?
they make the actor shave his hairline so it looks like pete has a gross and receding hairline. i 'member some red carpet photos with vincent krautheiser where the hair was starting to grow back and he had this weird, fucked up stubble on his forehead.
i thought that was a really great finale to what's been an uneven season. i hope megan drops lots of LSD and takes her top off next year. also i cried like a baby during the hershey's pitch.
That episode was very satisfying. Thank God.
Do you think Pete's mom's nanny was trying to get rich?
I liked the end shot of Don and daughter in profile looking at the bordello together with the same expression.

Peggy gets the shaft (again)
Everyone wants the LA spot?
That's just silly.
Good but not great season. Liked dark Don starting to lose it, Pete toking, Sally being all teenager and Rogers one-liners. Yes, that last shot with Don and Sally was pretty cool.

9:00 min mark - Fuckin A' right Ima' man. Cheesy scene, but brilliant.
Man, he's trying so hard it's almost overkill.
The Anti-Don attitude seemed a little over the top.
They all have history with him.
I think Megan's getting her fuck on with that other chick and some dudes. That's why she doesn't want Don to come out to Cali.
They really needed that sliver of hope.
I sit back and enjoy the ride, loving the season so far - Bob trying to propose to Tits, Nipple Slicing, 3Somes, Stoned Pregnant Hippies, IBM, Harry Crane Promotions, Peggy and the annoying next door neighbors kid, Scout's Honor, Where the Fuck is Ted?
Sign me up...More Please.

Sopranos = The Father
Boardwalk Empire = The Son
Mad Men = The Holy Ghost
I binge watched West Wing just a couple years ago. Never had any interest when it actually aired.
You should binge watch The Wire. Yo McNutty! Yo wassup String?
Roger looks fantastic in that trailer.

Watched the first coupla Boardwalk Empires. That's it. Not sure why, I love Buscemi.
keep watchin'
White peoples obsession with The Wire, one more person asks me if I'm into it I'm gonna lose my shit.
I have zero interest watching that show.
Zombie, you're gonna love mad men :)
Yo wassup String Token?
Is your beef with the Wire have to do with how the Irish Americans are portrayed?
;)
I dug The Wire, but haven't finished it yet, just kinda got burned out on it.
Pfftt.
Regarding the wire. When it gets to the newspaper episodes it gets super boring. They also should have had the 12 o'clock boys in there somewhere.
Season update, VZ?
Roger will quickly become your favorite character in "People smoking and drinking in the workplace."

"People smoking and drinking in the workplace."
We should get back to that. Call it
Traditional Employment or some shit.
They have been showing Madmen from 5am-9am on Sunday's for the last year so I DVR watched them all from EP 1.
Worth watching again.
'The Americans' is great. And 'Homeland'.
that one's great
they can't all be feel-good pick-me-ups
Quite.
Roger rules still.
Roger's mustache + Teds mustache = my 70's boner.
/dialed in
Roger's was a little much
It's the 70's, right?
Yep
Love the waitress - more plaid pants please - ken working at Dow - older characters seeping back - stan vs. the spider woman art director - harry the snake getting after megan - megan finding out about mommy and roger -

Roger to Megan after busted "It wasn't my idea" lol
Don: I'll just throw my tie over my shoulder and roll up my sleeves, they'll love me.
Pete: (Pissed) They probably will!!!
Glenn is still creepy, and should be killed for wearing those pants.
Sally said fuck!!!!!
Just binged-watched this show over the past few weeks, fucking what I would do to have an old-school
liquored-up office like that - well done, I must say, ain't no Bourdain intellectualism (digging' his latest CNN
No Borders tribe) but I'll take it, besides, Christina Hendricks is abooooot as good as it gets.
Mustacheo's and Gins for everyone!

Bye Joan :-\
And the way she went out, damn....like a boss.
Don just getting up and walking out of the meeting, Ken's face...he knew too...
Peggy and Roger, last office huruah.......
Betts and Don? I liked it, but was sad...
"You always like to play the stranger, don't you?"......Ghost of Burt Copper, bliss...
Irbass, what did you think of the finale?

Irbass, what did you think of the finale?
I liked it, I was surprised it went out on a such a happy/positive note.
Sad about Joan & Richard, but I guess it was for the best. Shocked Peggy didn't go with Joan, but taking Stan's advice she will do just fine.
Peggy + Stan - Mind blown, but I guess I should have seen it coming.
I could'a swore Don was going to off himself.....instead he goes BACK to the commune to film a Coke commercial......BRILLIANT.
It ended nicely.
Agreed......
With the exception of Betty, didn't like how they JUST inserted cancer and then BOOM you're gonna die in 6 months. Feel it just doesn't hold a story, sort of a cop out? Dunno.
Yeah, I agree with that.......it was fucked up how the last image of of her sitting at the table smoking, but I guess she knows she's dying, so why not go enjoying life as much as you can.
Her and Don's phone was really good/touching.
Don's search for the waitress was a little hokey but I guess they needed to get him to the commune so he could do the Coke ad.
Nice ending - most of these shows have been so brutal when ending, this was very positive.
I was a little let down for some reason. Good show overall and this season finally returned it to form.
Like Breaking Bad - splitting up the last season in two parts is a shit idea. You have two shorter story arcs and the second one simply lacks the time to wrap up a storyline that was developed over seven seasons. And no, adding 10 minutes to the last episode does not solve that problem. The scene with Roger playing organ and Peggy rollerskating was awesome though and the ending with the coca cola ad could have been great if it hadn't been so rushed.
Yeah good comparison to Breaking Bad. I felt both suffered from the first half of the last season being meh with a rushed series wrap up.
I liked the positive ending for most characters.
This will always be the Betty I love

I agree splitting up seasons has started to become the norm now & it's stupid....hell this last season of Mad Men seemed to take 2 years (probably not, but it seemed like it) and like suckers we will wait.
I honestly don't remember the 1st half of BB being lackluster, hell no seasons of that show seemed lackluster imo.
Yeah I don't think any of BB was "bad" as it is the best show ever, but I really felt it peaked with the Gus timeline and the rest was kind of a slide back.
Does anyone besides AMC split seasons ?
