I bought a set of sonic defenders

but I think my ears are not shaped like most peoples.  The left one doesn't fit very well and as a result, believe it or not, it makes my ears ring more.  Without plugs, I can stand with my ear away from the noise and lessen the impact a great deal (on that particular ear of course) but with that plug in, it doesn't matter.  My ear will ring at the end of a session.  The right one works fine though.
I might need to get two different sizes, like I'm an NBA player getting shoes.

I also can't wear earbuds.  They hurt.
Vinyls.   deal.

I wear one in my left ear for my vocal signal and at first it hurt but my ear anus got used to it after awhile.

I bought a pair of custom fitted plugs a few years back, and they were worth every penny of the $200+ price.

They take a mold of your ear canal and fabricate the insert section of the device from that. Thee are various filters available, but I use the -15 dB ones.
