Hey folks,

I got this silicone transistor Dunlop Fuzz Face a few years back and it's always given me the most epic feedback swells. It's design is based off the Arbiter Fuzz Jimi Hendrix famously used back in the late 60s. Very simple with only 2 knobs, but man does it ever purr. Made a video demo here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1YVA__E3LvY

Let me know what you guys think about the video and the pedal! I rarely see it on pedalboards because it's powered by a 9V battery

it's cool. do you make and sell those?  If you do, BAT Mark stops by sometimes and you guys could talk shop or w/e.

talk the virtues of silicon transistors.

This is one of the few demos I've seen on YouTube where this pedal actually SOUNDS LIKE A FUZZ FACE (and not like an overdrive or distortion). I could hear the "sputtery" texture of the pedal perfectly, specially in the beginning with the Yamaha.
cartoons, chocolate milk & rock 'n' roll!!

I think a couple reasons they aren't that popular - they're pretty big in size, so they take up a lot of room on a pedalboard (and the cases are practically empty inside). Also, they don't always play nice with other pedals... other pedals in the chain can affect their tone.
Rock & Roll is background music for teenagers to fuck to.

THIS. You really need to be willing to remove some of your pedals from your chain if you want to get the classic Fuzz Face tone. I had to sell two pedals in order to make my MJM London Fuzz roar and it was the best decision ever, no regrets.

dude, that vid is excellent and the sound is truly the kind of thing i listen for in a vid demo when i'm looking to buy.
1. you don't 'showboat'. you're playing like you're listening to the pedal's attributes.
2. the sound quality is clear and not soaked in reverb and delay.
kudos my friend!
really wanting the 'band of gypsys' dunlop fuzz, (the axis fuzz clone).
after xmas perhaps...
why does it hurt when i pee?

+1 to all of this.

IMO, the difficulty with a Fuzz Face is that you really need to commit to using it. It's great if you're willing to turn it on and work your guitars controls through the range of sounds, but most guitarists just want to leave everything on 10 and those guys are probably going to be disappointed by it.

Thanks man, I keep the signal as clean as possible. I noticed the same thing, most popular demos seem to have lots of views but the tone is always reverby and recorded incorrectly

Yeah that makes sense. I usually put it at the end of my chain and it sounds mint, cause it's pretty simple control with just 2 tone knobs. I only use it sometimes though cause I usually keep it set on very high so when I turn it on it's like a rocket taking off

Thanks a bunch dude! That's what I was going for. Be sure to like my facebook page http://www.facebook.com/JacksGearDemos and subscribe cause I'm gonna be demoing a bunch of pedals, particularly from independent makers who need videos made for their gear. And yeah I literally just put a shure SM57 directly up to the center of my VOX amp and didn't alter it at all- it's a pretty basic set-up but I feel it's the most honest since most players like myself have relatively "primitive" or "simple" gear. Plus, I don't "showboat" but that's cause I'm not the greatest guitarist, more-so an average joe (like the dudes watching the vid can relate to hopefully)
