Jam Room Band

A bunch of people here are moaning that they don't have a band, their band members suck cock for coke money, they don't put out after practice - what ever the deal is.

It got me thinking - there are plenty of musicians here on the forum. Collectively there is more than enough talent and equipment. So start a Jam Room Band. Got a couple of cool riffs and licks? Record them however you can. Let the forum decide what is good, someone else can record a bass or drum or vocal track. Catch my drift?

Shit I figure with everyone here we could pound out 4 good songs.

I can set up a part of my website to hold all the tracks and mixes. I'll even mix it. (I have a pro tools.)

So what do you think?

It doesn't sound like a bad idea, but I've been burned before, the blogspot getoffmyelevator tried this for a stonerrock comp, even setup a forum for it, I submitted a song and offered percussion and geetar, it pretty much died after that, damn stoners

Here's what I suggest:

Record a riff for 4 or 8 or 16 bars, then either email to me or perhaps a soundcloud account for this...(don't know the ins and outs of a free soundcloud account)
I can post the link, rinse, repeat.
Forum members can virtually jam to the riffs and build a song up from there.

Should someone just do a basic track, and everyone else embellish on it? I record a guitar track with some dummy drums, Gabe takes that guitar track and records his shit to it, we dump the dummy drums, Mortlock/zachoff/bloodofkings/ziggy/herb/whoever throws down some bottom end, justin/rowdybeer/me/erik/whoever throws down some leads?

Should we be required to do something outside of the narrow minded and stagnant genre?

That could work, I was thinking something a bit more organic. Say for instance one of your riffs works better with Willie's chorus it'd be easier to "write". Then rerecord the whole guitar part, either as a whole or piece by piece. (Might take longer)
Either works for me.

As long as each instrument is an individual track it could work.

I'll be the co-ordinator, but I'll leave the decision making up the the contributors.

Let's see what people got and make a decision from there?
