It's nice to see that Carl is growing up before our eyes as well as growing a set of balls. It was nice to have an episode of not seeing Woodbury and the Prison. This episode was kind of similar to The Fly episode of Breaking Bad. More of a character study than anything else. I liked the episode and the change of pace it gave.

Yeah, I used to hate Carl, but now that he is a stone cold killer I like him.  Hell, he's more rational than his dad is.

Demon Lung

The turning point for Carl obviously was when he killed his mom. I feel like he became leader of the group then.

VOLVO)))

Just caught up.

Bummer about Morgan.  :'(

Awesome episode indeed. The reaction to the backpacker was totally expected this far in the game, specially with the characters that were in that car... Probably wouldn't have went the way it went if Hershel was driving...
I could play Stairway to Heaven when I was twelve... Jimmy Page didn't actually write it until he was twenty-two... I think that says quite a lot..

Morgan episode was an island of good in a sea of mediocre. At this point it's kind of the opposite of Lost: where Lost had good writers and decent actors but lacked a coherent story to keep it all together, TWD has a great story as a base already, but decent to bad actors (fucking Andrea - love that character in the comic, hate her on TV) and as for the writers - that depends entirely on what episode of what season you're talking about. one thing's for sure, consistent they ain't.
Nobody exists on purpose. Nobody belongs anywhere. Everybody's gonna die. Come watch TV?

The Bandit

The Governor's plan is so stupid.  If you want to kill everybody in the prison just do it.

GodShifter

The problem here, IMO, is more budget than anything else.

That's why you get these long, protracted dialogue heavy episodes with very little going on other than character development and so forth. Let's be honest, though, we know these characters at this point. Yeah, Dary's a bad ass no shit taker, Merle's a hothead with an underlying bad streak to him, Andrea is a dipshit, Glenn and Maggie love each other, Hershel is the wise counsel, blah blah blah. Yet, as we've seen before, the action scenes for this show are rarely done well (and rarely done on a grand scale) because of lack of budget. It isn't the writing so much as the inability of the show to pull off anything with any real tangible tension, outside of posturing and so forth, because it can't be done (well).

The finale of this show will have the Governor storming the prison and, yeah, some characters will die (most likely Hershel), but it won't be done well. It'll be spare with some cheesy smoke bombs going off and small scenes going back and forth with one or two characters fighting one or two characters from Woodbury. It won't be anything like a real military assault because this show can't do it.

Also, has anyone noticed how lame the zombies ala "walkers" are anymore? The make up looks bad, and the ones that hang around the prison are barely capable of doing anything. At the end of last weeks episode, Daryl rides through on his motorcycle and the rest in the bitchin' Hyundai economy crossover, and the zombies just kind of mill about and do nothing. No moving towards them, no nothing; they're like cows chilling about in a field or something. I get that they're a secondary feature in the show and it's really about the tensions of humans in a world without humanity and laws, but, shit, at least make them a bit menacing (realistic looking/acting), as to add to the quality of the show.

The Bandit

I agree about the budget.  What pisses me off is that this is AMC's biggest show ratings-wise (even more than a lot of network shows) by far, but they cheap out and funnel more money to Mad Men.

whoshotthefrog

They better not cheap out for the final season of Breaking Bad.

They don't do gun fights very well, that's why the "going to war" shenanigans worry me.
What Would Scooby Do ?

for what it's worth, the book is 80% drama and character development, 20% action.

That's true.

So we are to expect a Sopranos pacing, where they can sacrifice a few episodes following various sub plot-lines.  I imagine each major character would like a shot at an Emmy.

The all Andrea episode? I think she did great.

Way, way to much time on her man face and not enough of her ass.

I give 80% of a shit that the show entertains me and 0% of a shit what happened in the books.

The good news is that the books exist and if you like that better you can go to the comic book store and have the time of your life.

For the rest of us lets see some brutal zombie attacks.

Soundgardenia

I'm a fan of the charbroiled zombies.

I think she is pretty hot for ongoing zombie apocalypse.  Not like there are a ton of choices.

Yeah, the small budget is noticeable.  There are certain shots here and there that look like they were filmed with a Canon Rebel.

It's a bit of a slow mover, and they made Maggie put her over shirt back on (big ups to the Maggie tank top episode).  Andrea's god damn ass should get an Emmy.

Supposedly, it's the most watched show ever on basic cable. Maybe throw a few bucks at it, yeah?

Those Mad Men Beatles rights ain't paying themselves, yo!

Edit:  If it's already the most watched, why spend more money on it?  The tuppnece they've already spent is doing the job just fine.   :D

Well, that was heart-breaking.

Good episode, but Merle's makeup could've been better.

Looking forward to the finale.
