Wow that was quick.

Three hours after dropping off my amps they already had the Marshall done. I'm touched. It's a busy, very reputable shop so I was anticipating several days at least before they'd have a chance to even look at them.

But I'm friends either the tech and they know their shit, which is why I take my beloved amps there \m/,

But yeah. Marshall needed new power tubes and had some iffy solder joints (probably from me modding it heh)

$160-ish tho. Ouch.

But will be good at least having the Marshall for my busy weekend. Great dual-purpose amp for guitar and bass.

Do you put that head directly on top of the cabinet when you're gigging?

If so, maybe not so good for aging solder joints. Put it at the side on a road case or at least put some material between the head & the cab—styrofoam works okay.

I gathered some tracks from my hard disk, recorded one new tune and prepared cover artwork from the pictures my girlfriend took during our second mountains trip. Another EP for my ex-black metal project is ready to be released.

When used as a guitar head it's on top of the cab. I don't play stupid loud hahaha. Def something to think about tho

When used as a bass amp I set it off the the side due to aforementioned rumbling. And looks cooler that way \m/,

played a set of improv music with synths, sampler, and my friend on guitar the other night at a local brewery. we jammed for almost 40 minutes straight. pretty fun. we pissed some people off (dudes were dicks anyway), scared some people (with volume) and won them over by the end of it.

it was fun, but I felt a little out of my element playing synth in that kind of high pressure situation. it was hard to hear, and hard to get confident because of that. I guess we did alright, but now i'm working on building some solid launchpad ideas. Something a little more than: start in E, now we're in A, then D, etc.

Depends what it sounds like. I'll assume at least 2 of the speakers are replacements.

I paid about that for my 4x12 with the 4 original speakers still intact. The cabinet is definitely solid & built out of thick birch plywood, though.

There was a Sunn 3x12 on the local Craig's for a long time that didn't move at $180. While I have no use for a 3x12, I did consider replacing the baffle by making a tall/staggered 4x12. But fate intervened and someone eventually bought it.

In regards to whether of not it's worth the $250, I'd be inclined to say that it might be if the Celestions are G12-65s  People are paying good money for those speakers these days. If they're Celestion Super 65s, I would pass, however.

that Sunn 312 is cool and is better than nothing, I think it is a good price

I would just concentrate on getting a better guitar amp if you play guitar and already have a guitar cab

can a 6 ohm cab work with my head..

the peavey is 400 watts at 2 ohms and 250 w at 4 ohms. i def plan on getting a better head at some point but not now..which brings me to another question..what do you guys recommend. i mean i know this shit has been discussed all over here but..

Good news on the SVT:

Was a bum 12dw7 after all. The tech called me around 7pm (on a Sunday) and left a vm. Not even charging labor.

Does such a pedal exist that can be set to slightly delay the sound coming out of it? Not repeating delay, just a slight signal delay.

Also wondering if anyone can recommend any inexpensive pedals that can accurately produce a one octave down signal. Octave down only, no normal signal. Chords would be great but my understanding is that those types are quite expensive and tend to sound synthy so one note only is fine.

a hi quality effect set to 100% wet completely cancels the original dry signal.
it seems a delay and sub harmonic synth module/pedal could do that.

maybe a vocal processor has the quality enough to do a really clean octave down if normal pedals or boss/line 6 rigs cant do it

maybe you can utilize the pass-thru latency of something as a ghetto 100% wet mini delay

Isn't that what a chorus does? Some have a clean out/effected out.

As far as octave pedals go, look at the Danelectro Chili Dog. I've got one for dickaround purposes. Cheap and does not sound terrible.
