Bout to build a splitter box for myself and get the EP Booster clone working.

Finding that I don't need a true ABY box.

So if I'm going to rewire the one I got to do what I need it to do, I might as well just build one that's better and more roadworthy.

Any of you folks play trumpet or tried to learn? I've had one sitting in my storage for years. I just pulled it out, oiled the valves and dicked around on it for a bit. I want to try and learn. I have a long way to go before it sounds even remotely `like music. Wind instruments have always eluded me, but damn it I  wanna learn. The trumpet will do, but I'd really like to try trombone eventually.

Get a wireless clip on mic system and run it through delay and a wah pedal \m/

Probably cheaper than lessons in the long run

So the EP booster didn't work when housed, same problem I had with it last year.

Will scrap it for now and build a splitter box.

I played trombone for about 5 years, and my brother still plays trumpet. In a way, trombone is easier because there are lower expectations for what the instrument can do. The trombone's bigger mouthpiece may be easier too. The slide positions aren't too complicated. If you like the sound of the trombone better, then play the trombone. Your level of interest is more important than anything else. There's not a lot of crossover except using your facial muscles and breath. BTW they have cheap plastic trombones now, and they're supposed to be pretty good.

The thing is I own a trumpet already and I'm pretty broke lately. It's beat to shit but it seems to work. I do want to eventually get and learn trombone. I have way more chance of that happening than vibraphone or marimba which are also on my bucket list of instruments to learn to play. A kid's xylophone may be as close as I ever come to that.

I should clarify....I'm sure I could learn to play marimba or vibes. I know enough percussion and piano to get me started. I just don't know how I'd ever have them around to actually play. I will have to be content to worship Ruth Underwood.

From what I remember, be ready for some sore lips. Also, emptying the spit valve regularly is pretty key.

Those plastic trombones are like $150 bucks. The slide is the most important part (kinda) so when buying older trombones, you gotta be careful that the slide isn't dinged or bent (they are fragile). Search for trombones at Musician's Friend and sort by Price. Even a student model (metal or plastic) will be good for getting you started. Or look in pawn shops, Craigs List, just make sure the slide travels easily, all the way to 'full reach'.

Takes a while to build up your "lip" aka embouchure. Practice sessions should be short until you build up some endurance in your face.

He doesn't want a $150 trombone because he already has a trumpet.

He said he'd rather play the trombone. Cut to the chase. Starting on the trumpet won't be a shortcut to the trombone. I don't think $150 is an issue, maybe Im wrong though.

$150 is totally the issue. The reason I started messing around with the darn thing in the first place was money.
I had been grabbing some items from my storage unit to sell, because I'm kinda broke lately. I'd kinda forgot about the trumpet. I knew it wouldn't fetch me much due to it's condition but thought it would be fun to try and learn to play.
If I had the $150 to spare you damn well can bet a trombone is really low on the list of things it would go towards.

Yeah I need to come up with money fast. It pains me to even think about this but I've got to start selling off gear.
For instance thinking I may have to park with my V4. What's the going rate for one of those these days? Not what you'd like to pay for it, but what they seem to be going for?
I don't think I could part with it for anything but top dollar.

Dont do it, some of the biggest mistakes in my life were selling gear.

I'm not making much use of it anyway. I'm going to have to face so much more painful sacrifices if I don't.

I dunno for sure, but a ballpark guess is $700 if it's been tuned up recently, but you can confirm with Ebay, Reverb and Craigslist searches.

I thought you've been working a lot, flying all over doing trade shows. Sorry you have to deal with that. I agree selling equipment is a drag, but if you're not using it, then maybe it's okay. I hate having unused equipment around (and I have some which I should sell).  Also, equipment comes and goes. Tube amps need to be played, if they sit on the shelf unused, that's not good.

^ One thing that has really contributed to my plight is that up until the middle of last year I used to get advances for my expenses for those trips. I'd often drop the whole check into a CC payment. The new ownership now requires me to lay it out and then won't reimburse me till at least the pay period following an event. In addition to that I got stuck with a few bills from week long stays at expensive hotels. By the time I got reimbursed the damage to my finances had spread like cancer. my rent and cost of living have gone up considerably too. Stupid tech boom.

Man. I am really digging this 2-amp setup.

I'll start using it when I can get away with it.

Will be doing a one-off show with Bleu Edmondson this Saturday, covering all guitar (back in the day I was one of 2 guitar players).

I'll be using the 2-amp setup with the loop station too. Haha this is gonna be awesome sounding!
