Great early account of the whole Manson Saga.  He pretty much gives both sided of the story when ever possible which over the years has been good fuel for the conspiracy theory types (Me included)

Much more fleshed out than the Bug's book Helter Skelter.

I have this, it's one of those books that you always used to see in used book sales - they must have sold a million in the 70s.

Same here.  It's on my bookshelf and I have no clue if I've read it or not.  I did read Helter Skelter in HS.

The Vincent Bugliosi book is the real deal.  This is schlocky,...

I've read probably six or seven Manson biographies/accounts. I haven't heard of this one. I think I'll pass.

How did you avoid this one? There's like 10 million copies in print.

I don't know. I am clueless after all.

Please remember who you're talking to.

I also suggest reading Manson's Autobiography.  They both fill in lots of gaps that Bug left out of his book.

Didn't know he had an autobiography.  Is it all bullshit?

It's pretty good, he even goes into his Pimp Psychology.  I think what you do is you read all three and then start to ask honest questions as if you were investigating this for the very first time.  You will soon have a Lightbulb moment and realize that there is much more to the story than anyone is telling.
