I've been on a multi tool kick...I just can not seem to find the one that does it all for me.  I got a Swiss Tool, The spirit, Champion, Hercules and a Skeletool and I just picked up a Gerber MP400  kinda pissed that even the gerber mp series is no longer made in usa.  Have not bought a Sog yet.

Which multi tool have you found has saved the day giging the most?

My day gig does not require a multi-tool, unless you want to count my laptop.

I have a leatherman sidekick in my main bass case (leaves the house the most) and a cheapie $10 deal in every other instrument case that might leave the house.

How does that one do on cutting guitar and bass strings?

Park.

I misunderstood the question.

I also have a Park (for the mountain bike).

I have a Planetwaves for the guitars.

It works. Not as well as actual wire cutters, but it works.

Have a Swiss army knife in my pocket. It handles most things. What it won't do, the Gerber multi on my belt pretty much does.

So far gerber is a head in the poll, not that that means anything but it's interesting.

I have a Leatherman Wave that I found. A friend gave me a Gerber, but I prefer the Leatherman. Not sure why.

Seriously, the Planetwaves has an actual string-cutting tool, which likely cuts strings better than a general purpose multi-tool's snips. It also has a peg winding tool, which is almost definitely better that using the needle nose on a general purpose multitool. It also has a bridge pin remover specifically designed for that purpose.

To my sensibilities, general purpose multitools are for when you're stuck without the right tools.

Dude, if you can't properly cut guitar strings with a leatherman snips, I've been using it incorrectly for years.  In fact, I have one that I just call my "guitar string cutter." As in: "honey, have you seen my goddamn guitar string cutter?"
