I need me a valve Jr... little tube amp fever.

Valve Jr's are awesome. In my opinion they can get very doomy with fuzz because the lack of EQ makes them sound mid heavy in comparison with other amps which are usually scooped. You need the right cab to add some low end.

The downside with pedals is they start getting dirty really quick. Like past 2 they start to break up. I have heard of some tube swaps that sound pretty fun and would help it stay cleaner.

If I get a VJ, would I have to upgrade it's iron if I wanted to 6550ize it? Further more, would replacing the weenie caps in it with some bigger ones give me better low end response?

You would need to put in an octal socket, increase the filter cap size, and get a much much bigger PT and OT, honestly not worth the effort. If you want a SE Class A 6550 amp, just make one or pay me to do so!

I have a SS amp and it sounds a bit different then the demos ive looked at(all tubes)
but still does the job I wanted it to do
I was lookin for an OD that really brought out some low end
and thats what it does
It was sold out everywhere though, I emailed every retailer that said they had one in stock
D.E.FX said they aint makin pedals till after console is done(XMAS)
so had to get one used off ILF
the E.B with the philosophers tone sounds amazing
as well as the ARIA disnortion

Awesome let me know what you think of it when you get it up and running. I've always wanted to try one of those and they seem to be pretty hard to come by
